Toru Kikawada
is a Japanese politician of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ), a member of the House of Representatives of Japan, House of Representatives in the Diet of Japan, Diet (national legislature). A native of Rikuzentakata, Iwate and graduate of Waseda University, he worked at the city government of Rikuzentakata from 1977 to 1994. After having served in the Iwate Prefectural Assembly for two terms since 1995, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 2000 as a member of Ichirō Ozawa's Liberal Party (Japan, 1998), Liberal Party, which merged with the DPJ in 2003. JANJAN
''JANJAN'' (), short for ''Japan Alternative News for Justices and New Cultures'' (), was a Japanese online newspaper started by Ken Takeuchi, journalist and former mayor of Kamakura, Kanagawa. Launched in February 2003, the newspaper is credited for pioneering citizen journalism in Japan. After registration, anyone was free to post comments on the JANJAN website. However, there were different windows for registering depending on the nationality or ethnicity of the potential poster (i.e. a different one for "Foreigners" (外国の方) and Japanese). The bulk of the newspaper's revenue came from advertisements by its corporate sponsor. Due a lack of revenue, the newspaper ceased publication at the end of March 2010. The was a political party in Japan formed in 1998 by Ichirō Ozawa and Hirohisa Fujii. It is now defunct, having joined the Democratic Party of Japan in 2003. The Liberal Party were part of the Japanese liberal Parties genealogy, neoliberal and neoconservative. Ichirō Ozawa should not be confused with the left-liberal Liberal Party, which was re-established in 2016. History The Liberal Party was formed from remnants of the New Frontier Party after it dissolved in 1998. The party did do quite well for a new party, joining the opposition led by the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) and also including the New Kōmeitō, the Social Democratic Party and Japanese Communist Party, and thus helped contest elections against the ruling conservative Liberal Democratic Party (Japan), Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). Ichirō Ozawa
is a Japanese politician and has been a member of the House of Representatives since 1969, representing the Iwate 3rd district (Iwate 2nd district prior to the 1996 general election and Iwate 4th district prior to the 2017 general election). He is often dubbed the "Shadow ''Shōgun''" due to his back-room influence. He was initially a member of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), serving as its secretary general from 1989 to 1991. He left the LDP in 1993 and subsequently served as head of a number of other political parties, first by co-founding the Japan Renewal Party with Tsutomu Hata, which formed a short-lived coalition government with several other parties opposed to the LDP.
