The Ivy was a planned skyscraper in Monterrey Monterrey ( , ) is the capital and largest city of the northeastern state of Nuevo León, Mexico, and the third largest city in Mexico behind Guadalajara and Mexico City. When complete, it will be the tallest building in the Monterrey area and, depending upon exact final height and definition being used, could challenge the Torre Bicentenario as the tallest building in Mexico. Torre Fundadores will be a mixed-use project, providing retail, commercial office, hotel and residential space. While detailed plans for the edifice exist, the project has yet to be approved by local authorities. Monterrey ( , ) is the capital and largest city of the northeastern state of Nuevo León, Mexico, and the third largest city in Mexico behind Guadalajara and Mexico City. Enrique Norten
Enrique Norten Rosenfeld (born c. 1954), Hon. FAIA, is a Mexican architect and principal of the design firm ''TEN Arquitectos'' (Taller de Enrique Norten Arquitectos). Norten was born in Mexico City in 1954 where he graduated from the Universidad Iberoamericana with a degree in architecture in 1978. He obtained a Master of Architecture from Cornell University in 1980. In 1986, he founded TEN Arquitectos in Mexico City, initiating a lifelong commitment to architecture and design. In February 2008, Enrique Norten was presented with the "Excellence in Architecture and Design Award” by PODER - Boston Consulting Group Business Awards, and in 2007 obtained the “Legacy Award” from the Smithsonian Institution for his contributions to the US arts and culture. In 2005 he received the Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts by the World Cultural Council and was the first Mies van der Rohe Award recipient for Latin American Architecture in 1998. Skyscraper
A skyscraper is a tall continuously habitable building having multiple floors. Torre Bicentenario
The Torre Bicentenario (''Bicentennial Tower'') was a skyscraper project planned for construction in Mexico City. If built, at 300 meters (984 ft) tall, it would surpass the Torre Mayor as the holder of the title of Tallest Building in Mexico and same height as the highest building in Latin America. Torre Bicentenario was officially canceled, as announced by the local government and the involved investors on September 28, 2007. However, some facts indicate that the tower might be built, but not to be completed on the scheduled date. Name and design The inauguration date was planned to be September 16, 2010, which is the day of the 200th anniversary of the Mexican War of Independence, hence the building's name. The building was designed by renowned Pritzker Prize winner Rem Koolhaas, who took inspiration from the Pyramid of Kukulkan at Chichen Itza.
