Toronto Secular Alliance
The Atheist Bus Campaign was an advertising campaign in 2008 and 2009 that aimed to place "peaceful and upbeat" messages about atheism on transport media in Britain, in response to evangelical Christian advertising. It was created by comedy writer Ariane Sherine and launched on 21 October 2008, with official support from the British Humanist Association and Richard Dawkins. The campaign's original goal was to raise £5,500 to run 30 buses across London for four weeks early in 2009 with the slogan: "There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life." Richard Dawkins, author of '' The God Delusion'', agreed to match all donations up to a maximum of £5,500, providing a total of £11,000 if the full amount were to be raised. Margaret Eleanor Atwood (born November 18, 1939) is a Canadian poet, novelist, literary critic, essayist, teacher, environmental activist, and inventor. The ''Bath Chronicle'' is a weekly newspaper, first published under various titles before 1760 in Bath, England. Prior to September 2007, it was published daily. The ''Bath Chronicle'' serves Bath, northern Somerset and west Wiltshire. History Name changes The ''Bath Journal'' was published in 1743, and was renamed ''Boddely's Bath Journal''. It was renamed ''Keene's Bath Journal'' in January 1822, and was eventually taken over by the ''Bath Herald'' in March 1916. The Bishop of Bath and Wells heads the Church of England Diocese of Bath and Wells in the Province of Canterbury in England. The present diocese covers the overwhelmingly greater part of the (ceremonial) county of Somerset and a small area of Dorset. Peter Price (bishop)
Peter Bryan Price (born 17 May 1944) is a retired English Anglican bishop. He was the Bishop of Bath and Wells in the Church of England from 2001 to 30 June 2013. He sat in the House of Lords as one of the Lords Spiritual from 2008 until his retirement. Currently he chairs the board of trustees for the NGO Conciliation Resources. Price attended Oak Hill Theological College. He was ordained a deacon in 1974 and a priest in 1975. George Leonard Carey, Baron Carey of Clifton (born 13 November 1935) is a retired Anglican bishop who was the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1991 to 2002, having previously been the Bishop of Bath and Wells. The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is the self-regulatory organisation of the advertising industry in the United Kingdom. The ASA is a non-statutory organisation and so cannot interpret or enforce legislation. However, its code of advertising practice broadly reflects legislation in many instances. The ASA is not funded by the British government, but by a levy on the advertising industry.
