Tornado statistics for older years like this often appear significantly lower than modern years due to fewer reports or confirmed tornadoes. Synopsis 1987 started with a fairly slow spring, followed by a much more active late spring/summer. Two particularly devastating tornadoes of 1987 were the Saragosa, Texas tornado of May 22 and the Edmonton, Alberta tornado of July 31. The fall and early winter could best be described as "average" in terms of tornado activity, with a significant outbreak on November 14 and 15, and a killer F3 in December. Moselle, Mississippi
Moselle is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in southern Jones County, Mississippi. The community is part of the Laurel micropolitan area. History Moselle has a post office, with the ZIP code 39459. Moselle is located on the Norfolk Southern Railway and was incorporated on December 14, 1905. It was unincorporated at an unknown date. It was first named as a CDP in the 2020 Census which listed a population of 304. Geography Moselle is located along U.S. Route 11, north of Eastabuchie and southwest of Laurel. Stapleton Airport
Stapleton International Airport was a major airport in the western United States, and the primary airport of Denver, Colorado, from 1929 to 1995. It was a hub for Continental Airlines, the original Frontier Airlines, People Express, United Airlines, and Western Airlines. Other airlines with smaller operations at Stapleton included Aspen Airways, Frontier Airlines, and Rocky Mountain Airways, all three being based in Denver at the time. Waka, Texas
Waka is an unincorporated community in western Ochiltree County, Texas, United States. It lies along State Highway 15 southwest of the city of Perryton, the county seat of Ochiltree County. Its elevation is 3,045 feet (928 m). Although Waka is unincorporated, it has a post office, with the ZIP code of 79093; the ZCTA for ZIP code 79093 had a population of 76 at the 2000 census. The community, initially named Wawaka, was founded by German settlers in 1885, and its post office was opened in 1901. When another community, Burnside, was platted along the Panhandle and Santa Fe Railway 3 miles (5 km) away, Wawaka's residents and its postmaster moved to Burnside; the community was renamed Waka in 1921, two years after the Wawaka residents moved, but the post office remained "Wawaka" for six years.
