This page documents the tornadoes and tornado outbreaks of 1947, primarily in the United States. Most recorded tornadoes form in the U.S., although some events may take place internationally. Tornado statistics for older years like this often appear significantly lower than modern years due to fewer reports or confirmed tornadoes. All documented significant tornadoes prior to 1950 in the United States were given unofficial ratings by tornado experts like Thomas P. Grazulis, which this article uses for the ratings below. Most of these records are limited to significant tornadoes; those rated F2 or higher on the Fujita scale, or which caused a fatality. Some listed events were tornado family, tornado families rather than single tornadoes. There are also no official tornado counts for each month, so not every month is included in this article. Montier is a census-designated place in southwestern Shannon County, Missouri, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 49. History A variant name was "Monteer". A post office called Monteer was established in 1889, and the spelling was changed to Montier in 1924. The community has the name of A. N. Montier, a railroad official. Roger Mills County, Oklahoma
Roger Mills County is a county located in the western part of the U.S. state of Oklahoma. As of the 2010 census, the population was 3,647, making it the third-least populous county in Oklahoma. Its county seat is Cheyenne. The county was created in 1891. Worth is a village in Worth County, Missouri, United States. The population was 63 at the 2010 census. History A post office called Worth has been in operation since 1872. The community takes its name from Worth County. Geography Worth is located on the west bank of the Middle Fork Grand River approximately five miles south of Grant City. Higgins is a rural small town in Lipscomb County, Texas, United States, named after G.H. Higgins, a stockholder in the Santa Fe Railroad. The population was 397 at the 2010 census. Kansas
Kansas () is a state in the Midwestern United States. Its capital is Topeka, and its largest city is Wichita.
