Tormod Haugen
Tormod Haugen (12 May 1945 – 18 October 2008) was a Norwegian writer of children's books and translator. For his "lasting contribution to children's literature" he received the international Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1990. Biography Tormod Haugen grew up in Nybergsund, a small village in Trysil in Hedmark county, Norway. After school graduation at the Hamar Cathedral School in 1965, he attended the University of Oslo. He worked at the Munch Museum from 1971 to 1973. He made his debut as a writer in 1973 with ''Ikke som i fjor'' (Not like last year). After his debut he wrote a number of children and young people books, and he became one of the more acclaimed writers of children's literature in Scandinavia. He was an experimental and innovative writer who picked up elements from Norwegian folk tales and myths as well as from international children's literary traditions. Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award
The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award ( sv, Litteraturpriset till Astrid Lindgrens minne) is an international children's literary award established by the Swedish government in 2002 to honour the Swedish children's author Astrid Lindgren (1907–2002). The prize is five million SEK, making it the richest award in children's literature and one of the richest literary prizes in the world. The annual cost of 10 million SEK (in 2008) is financed with tax money. The Lindgren Award annually recognises one or more living people and extant institutions (twelve in the first ten years) - people for their career contributions and institutions for their long-term sustainable work. Specifically they should be "authors, illustrators, oral storytellers and promoters of reading" whose "work is of the highest quality, and in the spirit of Astrid Lindgren." Austrian Literature Online (ALO) is an Austrian digitization project by the University Library of Innsbruck, the University Library of Graz and the University of Linz. ALO is, together with Project ANNO, by the Austrian National Library, the largest Austrian project of its type. In August 2004, the 4,000th title was digitized. The majority of items are digital facsimiles. Gyldendal
Gyldendalske Boghandel, Nordisk Forlag A/S, usually referred to simply as Gyldendal () is a Danish publishing house. Founded in 1770 by Søren Gyldendal, it is the oldest and largest publishing house in Denmark, offering a wide selection of books including fiction, non-fiction and dictionaries. Prior to 1925, it was also the leading publishing house in Norway, and it published all of Henrik Ibsen's works.
