Toril Brekke
Toril Brekke (born 24 June 1949) is a Norwegian novelist, writer of short stories, children's writer, biographer, translator and literary critic. Early and personal life Brekke was born in Oslo as a daughter of the poet Paal Brekke and painter Bjørg Rasmussen. She was married to Martin Indregard from 1972 to 1982, and their son Kjetil Indregard is also a writer. She was married to professor Jon Bing from 1988 to 1998. She worked at a bread factory, and later as a typographer, and has been a full-time writer since 1982. She was a member of the Workers' Communist Party (Norway), Workers' Communist Party during the early 1970s, but later renounced communism. Literary career Brekke made her literary debut in 1976 with the novel ''Jenny har fått sparken'' ('Jenny Has Been Fired'), about factory women's fight against their employer. Torhild Johnsen (born 14 August 1934) is a Norwegian politician for the Christian Democratic Party. She served as a deputy representative to the Norwegian Parliament from Østfold during the term 1981–1985. Torill Thorstad Hauger (22 November 1943 – 4 July 2014) was a Norwegian novelist, children's writer, non-fiction writer and illustrator. She was the author of a number of prize-winning novels with historical themes for children and teenagers. Biography Torill Thorstad Hauger was born in Oslo, Norway. She was raised in the neighborhood of Vika where she attended a school for art and crafts. She was enrolled at the University of Oslo where she studied German, ethnology, folklore and archaeology. During the period from 1966 to 1971, she worked at the University Museum of National Antiquities, History Museum. She made her literary début in 1976, with the prize-winning documentary ''Karl Eugen Olsen fra Vika''. Between 1978 and 2001, she wrote children's books first with the Viking era as a backdrop. Torill Selsvold Nyborg (born 23 February 1952) is a Norwegian nurse, missionary and politician for the Christian Democratic Party. She was born in Kvam as a daughter of electrician Johannes Selsvold (1914–1997) and housewife Dorthea Selsvold (1922–1997). She took primary school in her native Ålvik and secondary school (lower and upper) in Øystese, graduating in 1970. She then attended a Red Cross nurse college for three years. She worked mainly as a nurse, first in Oslo from 1973 to 1977 before being a missionary in Arequipa from 1977 to 1982. She then moved to Fjell to become a nurse in 1983. She was a deputy member of Fjell municipal council from 1987 to 1991, and elected member from 1991 to 1995. Toril Moi (born 28 November 1953 in Farsund, Norway) is James B. Duke Professor of Literature and Romance Studies and Professor of English, Philosophy and Theatre Studies at Duke University. Moi is also the Director of the Center for Philosophy, Arts, and Literature at Duke. As an undergraduate, she attended University of Bergen, where she studied in the Literature Department. Torill Kove (born 25 May 1958) is a Norwegian-born Canadian film director and animator. She won the 2007 Academy Award for Animated Short Film for the film ''The Danish Poet'', co-produced by Norway's Mikrofilm AS and the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). Life and career Born in Hamar, in the south of Norway near Oslo, Kove has lived in Montreal, Quebec, Canada since 1982. She moved to Montreal to continue her academic studies in urban planning at Concordia University earning a master's degree (MUP '89) at McGill University later changing her major to animation. Toril Hetland Akerhaugen
Toril Hetland Akerhaugen (born 5 March 1982) is a Norwegian footballer who played for Stabæk and the Norway women's national football team. She is a central defender. Akerhaugen played for Asker FK in the top Norwegian league, the Toppserien until at the end of 2008 the club encountered financial trouble and left the Toppserien. The club's players then joined a newly formed women's team within Stabæk. Stabæk's women finished second in the Toppserien in 2009 and 2011 and won the league title in 2010. In September 2011 Akerhaugen played in the UEFA Women's Champions League in the club's tie against FFC Frankfurt, in which Stabæk won their match in Oslo but lost the return match in Germany a week later. Thorill Gylder
Thorill Gylder (born 5 May 1958) is a Norwegian female former racewalking athlete and speaker. A member of Vansjø/Svinndal IL sports club, she competed from the mid-1970s to the early 1980s. She competed three times at the IAAF World Race Walking Cup and after a fourth-place finish in 1975 she took the 5 km walk bronze medal in 1979. She broke several world records in walking during her career. She took the 20 kilometres walk world record with a time of 1:43:20 hours in 1978. This stood for nearly two years until it was beaten by Sue Cook. She twice broke the 10 km walk world record, setting a time of 48:40 minutes in 1978 before knocking over a minute off that with 47:24 minutes in 1979.
