2022 WDF World Darts Championship
The 2022 Lakeside WDF World Championship was the first World Championship organised by the World Darts Federation. The tournament was held at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey, which hosted the now-defunct BDO World Darts Championship from 1986 to 2019. 2022 Australian Darts Open
The 2022 Australian Darts Open was the second edition of the Australian Darts Open organised by Darts Australia. The tournament was held at the Moama Bowling Club in Moama, Australia. Australian Darts Open has been added to the WDF calendar and has been awarded Platinum ranking status, with a total prize fund of A$80,000. Damon Heta who won the previous men's tournament was absent from the event, having switched to the Professional Darts Corporation in January 2020. Lisa Ashton was defending the women's title as one of the seeded players, but lost in the group-stage match to Nicole Regnaud from New Zealand. Lorraine Winstanley ( née Farlam, born 28 October 1975) is an English darts player who plays in both World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Career Winstanley won the 2011 Romanian International Darts Open beating Jane Shearing 5–1 in the final. She qualified for the 2011 BDO World Darts Championship, where she lost 0–2 to Irina Armstrong in the quarter-finals. The following year, she went one step further by making it through to the semi-finals, where she was narrowly defeated by Deta Hedman in a last leg decider. Winstanley qualified again for the World Championships in 2013, and made it as far as the quarter-finals, where she was beaten 0–2 by Anastasia Dobromyslova. Deta Hedman (born 14 November 1959) is an English darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Biography Hedman was born in Jamaica in 1959. Her parents emigrated to the United Kingdom in the early 1960s, leaving Hedman and her siblings in the care of relatives in Jamaica. She spent her childhood with her aunt in Castleton in a shack without running water or electricity, going to school from Monday to Thursday and working on the farm on Fridays. Her parents eventually settled in Witham, Essex and over time, brought their children to the UK, with Hedman joining them in January 1973. She started playing darts with her older brother after babysitting for him and then at the local pub in Witham and further afield in Essex. When she was 25, she joined a super league. Lorraine Hyde (born 11 December 1989) is a Scottish female professional darts player who currently plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Her biggest achievement to date was won the British Classic (darts), British Classic. British Darts Organisation
The British Darts Organisation (BDO) was a darts organisation founded on 7 January 1973 by Olly Croft. Made up of 66 member counties, it oversaw professional, semi-professional and amateur darts competitions in Britain. The BDO was a founder member of the World Darts Federation in 1976. It also staged a BDO World Darts Championship, World Professional Darts Championship from 1978 to 2020. In the early 1990s, a dispute between Olly Croft and the top darts players over the decline in TV coverage and sponsorship led to an acrimonious Split in darts, split in the game, with the players breaking away to form their own governing body which became the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Beau Greaves (born 9 January 2004) is an English darts player who currently plays in the World Darts Federation (WDF) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events.
