Torgrim Sollid
Torgrim Sollid (born 17 June 1942) is a Norwegian self-taught traditional folk musician, composer and jazz musician (trumpet, flugelhorn, and drums), known for combining folk music with jazz, and for playing in the Jan Garbarek Quartet and Warne Marsh Sextet. Career After growing up in Stor-Elvdal Sollid was drummer in "Veitvet Big Band" and "Jan Garbarek Quartet" (1962–63), prior to training in music therapy in Mo i Rana, where he also played with Guttorm Guttormsen Band. In Molde he played in Erling Aksdal Sextet, and the two then gave out the "mountain jazz" project ''Østerdalsmusikk'' (1974) with music by Ole Mørk Sandvik. In the same vein he started the big band Søyr (1976–) in Trondheim, which he has led since to a number of album releases. Eidskog is a municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Vinger. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Skotterud. Thomas Winther Andersen
Thomas Winther Andersen (born 29 April 1969) is a Norwegian-born, now Amsterdam-based jazz bassist, married to jazz singer Henriette Andersen. Career Winther Andersen was born in Oslo, Norway. He toured extensively in Europe and the USA with different musicians and bands, like Lee Konitz, Jimmy Halperin, Sheila Jordan, Jasper Blom, Robert Rook, Michiel Borstlap. He graduated from Amsterdam Conservatory 1993 and supplemented with a master at the Conservatory of Den Hague 1994. He is one of the grand masters among European bassplayers and has been leading an international career in jazz since the late 1960s. Carl Haakon Waadeland
Carl Haakon Waadeland (born 8 November 1952) is a Norwegian musicologist and jazz drummer, known from several bands and releases such as with Dadafon, Dum Dum Boys, Åge & Sambandet, Halvdan Sivertsen, Warne Marsh, Kenny Wheeler, Annbjørg Lien, Henning Sommerro, Bjørn Alterhaug, John Pål Inderberg, Knutsen & Ludvigsen, Mikis Theodorakis and Arja Saijonmaa. He was one of the driving forces behind the jazz program at NTNU which he also directed. Career Waadeland holds a master's degree in mathematics and PhD in music theory from the NTNU, where he concentrates on rhythm, swing, music performance (performologi), rhythm and movement, as a professor of Music. Bjørn Kjellemyr (born 4 December 1950 in Bamble, Norway) is a jazz double bassist, known from a variety of musical contexts like Terje Rypdal & The Chasers, Joe Henderson, Bob Berg, Chet Baker, Art Farmer, Pat Metheny, Mike Stern, Dag Arnesen, Knut Riisnæs, Jon Eberson, Bugge Wesseltoft, Audun Kleive, Jon Balke, Jan Gunnar Hoff and Ketil Bjørnstad. Terje Bjørklund
Terje Bjørklund (born 2 January 1945) is a jazz pianist and composer. He was an active jazz pianist until approximately 1980. From then on he has concentrated on composing. Early life and career Bjørklund was born in Narvik. After obtaining his Master's Degree in Musicology at the University of Oslo in 1971, Bjørklund studied composition with Finn Mortensen at the Norwegian Academy of Music (1971–1973). Bjørklund has collected his experiences as a jazz musician in the text book ''Moderne jazzimprovisasjon''. In 1983 he was awarded the Norwegian Jazz Association's highest award: the Buddy prize, for his efforts within Norwegian jazz life. John Pål Inderberg
John Pål Inderberg (born 6 August 1950 Steinkjer, Norway) is a versatile saxophonist and one of the leading traditional musicians in Norway. His playing synthethises many different styles, not least when in partnership with Norwegian and American jazz musicians - players as contrasting as Gil Evans and Lee Konitz. Career As an earlier member of the new cool quartet, Inderberg gave new popularity to the collective art of improvisation in the 1950s. Torgeir Rebolledo Pedersen (born 3 August 1949) is a Norwegian architect, poet, playwright and children's writer. He made his literary debut in 1983 with the poetry collection ''Tidr''. Other collections are ''Stråmann'' from 1990, ''Han som elsket verden'' from 1993, and ''I krig og kjærlighet er ennå mye ugjort'' from 1995.
