Tord Hagen
Tord Bernhard Hagen (19 January 1914 – 2008) was a Swedish diplomat and ambassador. Biography Early life and education Tord Bernhard Hagen was known to his friends as Bill, a nickname given to him as a young student in Uppsala. He lost his father early and his mother Ellen Hagen raised him and his sister Helga while pursuing a career in politics. Career After graduating from Uppsala University, Bill went on to pursue a career as a diplomat by joining the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. His first deployment was at the Swedish embassy in London where he directly experienced the outbreak of World War II and the subsequent German bombings. He served as an attaché at the embassy from April 1939 to 1943. He also spent a few months in 1939 as substitute to the general counsel in Dublin. Ellen Hagen
Ellen Helga Louise Hagen (''née'' Wadström; 1873–1967) was a Swedish suffragette, women's rights activist and politician. She was a member of the National Association for Women's Suffrage, the chairperson of Liberala kvinnor (Liberal Women) in 1938–1946 and Svenska Kvinnors Medborgarförbund (Swedish Women's Citizen Society) in 1936–1963. During the 1920s and 1930s, she was internationally active within peace work and the Swedish delegate in the international peace conference in Paris in 1931. Life Hagen was born on 15 September 1873 in Stockholm, Sweden. She was the daughter of the priest and writer Bernhard Wadström and Helga Westdahl (1838–1879), and the sister of the writer Frida Stéenhoff. Lars Petrus Folke von Celsing (1 April 1916 – 17 August 2009) was a Swedish diplomat. Career von Celsing was born in Stockholm, Sweden, the son of Folke von Celsing, a bank executive, and his wife Margareta (née Norström) and brother of the architect Peter Celsing and the doctor Fredrik Celsing. He passed '' studentexamen'' on 8 May 1934 and received a Candidate of Law degree from Stockholm University College on 27 May 1942. von Celsing did university studies in Paris and Berlin before becoming an attaché at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1942. He served in Bern in 1943 and was second legation secretary in Bern in 1947 and served in the UN delegation the same year. Carl Swartz (diplomat)
Carl Johan Gustaf Swartz (5 June 1858 – 6 November 1926) was a Swedish right-wing politician who served as Prime Minister of Sweden from March to October 1917. He also served as Minister for Finance from 1906 to 1911. He married Dagmar Lundström in 1886, with whom he had three children, Erik, Brita and Olof. Life and career Carl Swartz was born on 5 June 1858 in Norrköping, Östergötland County, the son of factory-owner Erik Swartz and wife Elisabeth Forsgren. After completing studies in Uppsala and Bonn, he returned to Norrköping to run the family business, tobacco producers Petter Swartz. He came to play a large role in his home town, not least culturally. He was chairman of the Board of Directors of, amongst others, Sweden's private Central Bank between 1912 and 1917.
