Torbjörn Harrysson
Torbjörn Harrysson (1943-2010) was a speedway rider from Sweden. Speedway career Harrysson was a leading speedway rider in the 1960s. He reached the final of the Speedway World Championship on three occasions; in the 1966 Individual Speedway World Championship, 1968 Individual Speedway World Championship and the 1969 Individual Speedway World Championship. He won the silver medal in 1968 and bronze medal in 1967 at the Swedish Championship. Harrysson helped Sweden win the World Team Cup in 1967 as well as the Speedway World Pairs Championship in 1968. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway from 1967 until 1968, riding for Newport Wasps. Visby
Visby () is an urban area in Sweden and the seat of Gotland Municipality in Gotland County on the island of Gotland with 24,330 inhabitants . Visby is also the episcopal see for the Diocese of Visby. The Hanseatic city of Visby is arguably the best-preserved medieval city in Scandinavia, and, since 1995, it has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. The 1968 Speedway World Pairs Championship was the unofficial FIM Speedway World Pairs Championship. The final took place in Kempten, West Germany. The championship was won by Sweden (24 points) who beat Great Britain (21 points) and Norway (16 points). Although unofficial at the time it is now regarded as being a major event and is listed in all speedway lists. Olle Nygren
Harald Olof "Olle" Ingemar Nygren (11 November 1929 – 13 February 2021) was a Swedish speedway rider who reached the finals of the Speedway World Championship five times. Nygren was Swedish Champion in 1949 and became Nordic Champion in 1960. After retirement, Nygren set up a successful speedway training school. Nygren lived in England from the 1960s. He died in Ipswich at the age of 91, after contracting COVID-19; he had previously been treated for laryngeal cancer. Anders Michanek
Anders Michanek (born 30 May 1943 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Speedway rider. In 1974 he won the Speedway World Championship in his Swedish homeland with a maximum score of 15 points. Career Michanek had a very successful career riding in the British League. He initially signed for the Long Eaton Archers in 1967 before going on to ride for various clubs including Leicester Lions, Newcastle Diamonds, Reading Racers, Ipswich Witches and Cradley Heathens. Bengt Gustaf Jansson (born 9 January 1943 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a former Swedish international speedway rider. "Banger" was runner up in the 1967 World Final to fellow countryman Ove Fundin after losing a race-off and finished third in 1971, again after a run-off. He rode in Britain for West Ham Hammers, Edinburgh Monarchs, Hackney Hawks, Reading Racers, and finally the Birmingham Brummies. Göte Nordin (born 2 July 1935) is a former speedway rider from Sweden. Speedway career Nordin is a two times champion of Sweden, winning the Swedish Championship in 1965 and 1971. He reached the final of the Speedway World Championship on four occasions (1961, 1962, 1963 and 1966) finishing third in the 1961 Individual Speedway World Championship. He helped Sweden win the World Team Cup in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967. He won the Swedish League title on eight occasions with three clubs. Malmö Stadion, often known simply as Stadion before the construction of the new Stadion between 2007 and 2009, is a multi-purpose stadium in Malmö, Sweden. As of 2015, it is the home of association football club IFK Malmö, presently of Division 2, and athletics club MAI.
