Toranomon, Minato, Tokyo
is a business district of Minato, Tokyo. History Literally meaning "Tiger's Gate," Toranomon was the name of the southernmost gate of Edo Castle. The gate existed until the 1870s when it was demolished to make way for modern developments. The Toranomon Incident (虎ノ門事件 Toranomon Jiken) was an assassination attempt on the Prince Regent Hirohito of Japan on 27 December 1923 by communist agitator Daisuke Namba. The district is home to many corporate headquarters. From the 1970s through the mid-1990s Japan Air System (originally Toa Domestic Airlines) was headquartered in the in Toranomon. Okura Museum Of Art
is a museum in Tokyo, Japan. The museum opened in Toranomon, Tokyo in 1917 to house the collection of pre-modern Japanese and East-Asian Art amassed since the Meiji Restoration by industrialist Ōkura Kihachirō. The museum collection includes some 2,500 works, among which are three National Treasures and twelve Important Cultural Properties. The museum is located within the grounds of the Hotel Okura Tokyo. (NPB) is a Japanese governmental agency in charge of the production of Japanese paper money, Japanese yen.
