Toponas, Colorado
Toponas is an unincorporated community in Routt County, Colorado, United States. Description The community took its name from nearby Toponas Rock. The population in 2010 was 48; in 2017 it is estimated at 26, all in ages ranging from 55 years upwards. As of 2015, the village consists of a large general store with gas pumps, and a few ranch houses and attendant outbuildings. Just west of the village is a post office, currently serving ZIP Code 80479, which has been in operation since 1888. The community took its name from nearby Toponas Rock. Geography Toponas is located at (40.057841,-106.801357). Despite the small size of the town, this is a strategic location, lying in a broad mountain pass on the divide between the Yampa River to the north and the Colorado River to the south. Middle Park (Colorado Basin)
Middle Park (elev. ) is a high basin in the Rocky Mountains of north-central Colorado in the United States. It is located in Grand County, on the southwest slope of Rocky Mountain National Park, approximately 50 miles (80 km) west of (and across the continental divide from) Boulder. Description The basin surrounds the headwaters of the Colorado River on the west side of the Front Range. It extends southwestward from the source of the Colorado at Grand Lake, downstream past Granby (the largest community), Hot Sulphur Springs, Parshall and Kremmling. Gore Pass
Gore Pass (el. 2903 m./9527 ft.) is a high mountain pass in the Rocky Mountains of northwestern Colorado in the United States. The pass crosses a gap in the northern end of the Gore Range in southwestern Grand County west of Kremmling. The pass provides the route of State Highway 134 east of Toponas, furnishing a motor vehicle route between Middle Park and the valley of the Yampa River to the west. It has a mild approach to the west, while the east side has a moderate 5.4% grade. Gore Pass is named for Sir St. George Gore, an Irish baronet from Sligo whose sole purpose was to break records and fill his trophy room. Colorado State Highway 134
State Highway 134 (SH 134) is a long state highway in northern Colorado. SH 134's western terminus is at SH 131 in Toponas, and the eastern terminus is at U.S. Route 40 (US 40) north of Kremmling. Route description SH 134 begins in the west at Toponas and proceeds eastward entering Routt National Forest after three miles (5 km). From there the road climbs gradually for roughly thirteen miles to an elevation of at Gore Pass. At Gore Pass the route moves into Arapaho National Forest through which it passes for roughly three miles before leaving National Forest Service land. The Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad , often shortened to ''Rio Grande'', D&RG or D&RGW, formerly the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad, was an American Class I railroad company. The railroad started as a narrow-gauge line running south from Denver, Colorado, in 1870. It served mainly as a transcontinental bridge line between Denver, and Salt Lake City, Utah. The Rio Grande was also a major origin of coal and mineral traffic. Craig, Colorado
Craig is a home rule municipality that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Moffat County, Colorado, United States. The city population was 9,060 at the 2020 United States Census. Craig is the principal city of the Craig, CO Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Founded by William H. Tucker, Craig was incorporated as a city on July 15, 1908. The town was named for one of the town's financial backers, Reverend William Bayard Craig. Colorado River

Yampa River
The Yampa River flows through northwestern Colorado in the United States. Rising in the Rocky Mountains, it is a tributary of the Green River (Colorado River), Green River and a major part of the Colorado River system.
