Topmodel (Belgian TV Series)
''Topmodel'' is a Belgian reality television show which pits contestants against each other in a variety of competitions to determine who will win a modeling contract with ''Dominique Models''. Belgian model Ingrid Seynhaeve hosts the show, which is based on the top-rating series '' America's Next Top Model'' with Tyra Banks. The debut season of the show premiered on KanaalTwee in October 2007. On it, 10 female contestants were placed in an apartment. Spanning a wide variety of women of various races, heights and body sizes, they had been whittled down from a pool of thousands to compete against one another in various contests designed to simulate the extreme demands placed on professional models. Tyra Banks
Tyra Lynne Banks (born December 4, 1973), also known as BanX, is an American television personality, model, producer, writer, and actress. Born in Inglewood, California, she began her career as a model at the age of 15, and was the first African-American woman to be featured on the covers of '' GQ'' and the ''Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue'', on which she appeared three times. ''Topmodel, season 1'' was the first season of the reality series ''Topmodel'' hosted by Ingrid Seynhaeve. Ten contestants lived together in a luxurious apartment until the top three travelled to New York City for the rest of the season. In contrast to '' America's Next Top Model'', the host was not part of the judging panel. Ghislaine Nuytten was the judging chairwoman and called out the girls onto the next round at the judging panel. The bottom two contestants were then officially ''nominated for elimination'', with Marc Douchez from Dominique Models having the final say on who went home and who stayed. ''Benelux' Next Top Model'' was a Dutch-language reality television show that aired in Belgium and the Netherlands. The show was a merge between ''Holland's Next Top Model'', and the Belgian television series '' Topmodel''. The first season premiered in September 2009, and was hosted by Dutch writer and former model Daphne Deckers. Despite the Benelux reference in the title, the program was not broadcast in Luxembourg or Wallonia. On May 9, 2011 it was announced that ''Benelux' Next Top Model'' would not be renewed for a third season. The Dutch production team would continue with a domestic fifth season in the Netherlands, again under the title of ''Holland's Next Top Model''. The judging panel consisted of modeling agency Dominique Models head Marc Dochez, former model and head judge Ghislaine Nuytten, make-up artist Rudi Cremers, fashion and beauty journalist and editor-in-chief of ''Glam*it'' magazine Pascale Baelden and fashion journalist Els De Pauw. VTM 2 (formerly Q2) is a Belgian television channel owned by the commercial broadcasting company DPG Media. History The channel was originally known as Kanaal 2. However, it has undergone several rebrandings over the years. At launch in 1995, the channel was branded as Ka2 (Dutch pronunciation of K2), then Kanaal 2. In 2001, it was branded KANAALTWEE. On 12 February 2008 the channel changed its name to 2BE, retaining the 2 but referring to the Belgian ISO Country Code BE. In September 2016, the channel changed its name to Q2. This was an extension of the Qmusic radio station brand owned by Medialaan. On 31 August 2020, Q2 rebranded as VTM 2, as part of a rebranding of the 4 main DPG channels.
