''Top Gear'' is a Chinese television series about motor vehicles, primarily on cars, and is an adaptation of the British television series ''Top Gear''. The show premiered on 13 November 2014 on the network Shanghai Dragon TV. Series 1 was hosted by Cheng Lei, Richie Jen, and Tian Liang, Series 2 by Cheng Lei, Ma Dong, and Ou Han-sheng. The show also features a segment similar to Star in a Reasonably Priced Car (Ford Focus in Series 1 and Volkswagen Lamando in Series 2) and a Chinese Stig, whose identity is currently unknown. Episodes History The first attempt at a Chinese Top Gear was in 2011. In May 2014, BBC announced that it has signed a deal with Honyee Media to produce a local version of Top Gear in China. Cheng Lei
Cheng Lei (; born on August 26, 1971) is a Chinese television presenter. Cheng Lei was a student in Shanghai Theater Academy in 1990s. After graduation, he was chosen as a host for ''Broken Brain'' (智力大沖浪) by Shanghainese producer Xiao Chen. He also worked on several interviews. Cheng's family has a long history of liver disease. In 2000, he was diagnosed with Hepatitis B. On January 18, 2004, he took a temporary leave from television though he said in a statement that he would take advanced courses abroad. On February 22, 2005, he returned to television. In June 2007, he was sick once again but he re-appeared on a television show called ''Dating on Saturdays'' (相約星期六). Michelle Ye or Ye Xuan (born 14 February 1980) is a Chinese actress and producer. She is best known for her roles in, ''Eternal Happiness'', ''Triumph in the Skies'', and ''Lost in the Chamber of Love''. The Badain Jaran Desert () is a desert in China which spans the provinces of Gansu, Ningxia and Inner Mongolia. It covers an area of . By size it is the third largest desert in China. This desert is home to some of the tallest stationary dunes on Earth, with some reaching a height of more than , although most average at around . Its tallest dune is also measured, from base to peak, as the world's third tallest dune and highest stationary dune in the world. The desert also features over 100 spring-fed lakes that lie between the dunes, some of which are fresh water while others are extremely saline.
