Toos Faber-de Heer
Toos Faber-de Heer (23 February 1929 – 6 August 2020) was a Dutch journalist and justice information officer. Faber was born in Batavia (Dutch East Indies). In 1975 she became known as the spokeswoman of Minister of Justice Dries van Agt during the 1975 Dutch train hostage crisis by South Moluccan youth in Wijster on 2 December 1975. Eighteen months later, after the 1977 Dutch train hijacking on 23 May 1977 Faber was involved as a spokesperson. At the end of 1977 it seemed that Faber would be appointed secretary of state in the First Van Agt cabinet at the Ministry of Defense, but that did not happen. Around September 1981 the NOS started the television series ''Het Capitool'', where she became one of the presenters together with Joop van Tijn and Herman Wigbold. She stopped after a few months. The Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (; NOS ; English: Dutch Broadcasting Foundation) is one of the broadcasting organisations making up the Netherlands Public Broadcasting system. It has a special statutory obligation to make news and sports programmes for the three Dutch public television channels and the Dutch public radio services. It is funded by the Dutch government. The foundation's remit derives from the Dutch Media Act 2008, which stipulates that the NOS produce regular and frequent programming of a public service nature, including, notably, a full and impartial news service and coverage of parliamentary procedures and debates, as well as reporting on sporting and other national events. Batavia, Dutch East Indies
Batavia was the capital of the Dutch East Indies. The area corresponds to present-day Jakarta, Indonesia. Batavia can refer to the city proper or its suburbs and hinterland, the Ommelanden, which included the much-larger area of the Residency of Batavia in the present-day Indonesian provinces of Jakarta, Banten and West Java. The founding of Batavia by the Dutch in 1619, on the site of the ruins of Jayakarta, led to the establishment of a Dutch colony; Batavia became the center of the Dutch East India Company's trading network in Asia. First Van Agt Cabinet
The First Van Agt cabinet, also called the Van Agt–Wiegel cabinet was the executive branch of the Dutch Government from 19 December 1977 until 11 September 1981. The cabinet was formed by the christian-democratic Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) and the conservative-liberal People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) after the election of 1977. The cabinet was a centre-right coalition and had a slim majority in the House of Representatives with Christian Democratic Leader Dries van Agt serving as Prime Minister.
