Tooradin is a town in Victoria, Australia, 57 km south east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Casey and the Shire of Cardinia local government areas. Tooradin recorded a population of 1,722 at the . Naming The name of Tooradin comes from the Boon wurrung word ''too-roo-dun'', which refers to the Bunyip that lived in the Koo-Wee-Rup Swamp. The Dreamtime creature had a 'reputation for devouring human beings' and 'lived in the thick mud beneath the water of a waterhole that never dried up.' History Tooradin was originally settled by the Western Port Indigenous people called the Boon wurrung. They had their traditional lands for many thousands of years. The West Gippsland Football Netball Competition (WGFNC) is an Australian rules football and netball league in the West Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia. South Gippsland Railway Line
The South Gippsland railway line is a partially closed railway line in Victoria, Australia. It was first opened in 1892, branching from the Orbost line at Dandenong, and extending to Port Albert. Much of it (the section up to Leongatha) remained open until December 1994 (passenger services finished the previous July). Today, only the section between Dandenong and Cranbourne remains open for use. The section of the line from Nyora to Leongatha was used by the South Gippsland Tourist Railway until it ceased operations in 2016. City Of Casey
The City of Casey is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the outer south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Casey is Victoria's most populous municipality, with a June 2018 population of 340,419. It has an area of . Tooradin Railway Station, Victoria
Tooradin was a railway station on the South Gippsland line in South Gippsland, Victoria, Australia, the station operated until the closure of the line between Cranbourne Station and Leongatha Station in July 1993 (passenger traffic) although the railway continued to carry freight traffic to Koala Siding near Lang Lang until January 1998. Between 1999 and 2008 there was constant speculation that the railway line beyond Cranbourne to Leongatha could re-open, as promised by the Victorian State Government, under a project named 'Bringing Trains Back to Victorians'. However, in May 2008, a scoping study carried out on behalf of the State Government found the costs of returning services high, at $72 million. Therefore, plans to reopen the line where halted, and the Government will spend $14.2 million on improved V/Line coach services instead. Devon Meadows is a town in Victoria, Australia, 50 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Casey local government area. Devon Meadows recorded a population of 1,551 at the 2021 census. Devon Meadows Post Office was located at 89 Finsubury Devon Meadows and opened on 21 March 1915, and closed in 1941.The original building was one of the oldest buildings in Devon Meadows.
