Toogong, New South Wales
Toogong is a town in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia. The town is located in the Cabonne Shire local government area, west of the state capital, Sydney. At the , Toogong had a population of 370. By 2016 this number had fallen to 79. Toogong is an aboriginal word meaning 'Dried up Lake.' Toogong was the birthplace of Hazelton Airlines, formed by Jim and Max Hazelton in 1953, now Regional Express. Built in 1872, St. Albans Anglican church in Toogong is the oldest still existing church in the Canowindra district and National Trust listed. The church was built with the financial support of the Irvine family who had emigrated to Australia from Northern Ireland and had built an inn and post office at Toogong in 1863. Apart from being a house of worship it was also used for schooling. The two remaining Irvine brothers of the original five also erected a war memorial in the church grounds in 1924 to honour the men from the district who saw active war service. ... Cabonne Council is a local government area in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia. The Shire is located adjacent to the Mitchell Highway and the Broken Hill railway line, partly surrounding the City of Orange. The administrative centre is located at Molong. Cobb And Co
Cobb & Co was the name used by many successful sometimes quite independent Australian coaching businesses. The first was established in 1853 by American Freeman Cobb and his partners. The name Cobb & Co grew to great prominence in the late 19th century, when it was carried by many stagecoaches carrying passengers and mail to various Australian goldfields, and later to many regional and remote areas of the Australian outback. The same name was used in New Zealand and Freeman Cobb used it in South Africa. Although the Queensland branch of the company made an effort to transition to automobiles in the early 20th century, high overhead costs and the growth of alternative transport options for mail, including rail and air, saw the final demise of Cobb & Co. James David Hazelton (20 June 1931 – 10 June 2014) was an Australian aviator and co-founder, alongside his brother Max Hazelton, Max, of Hazelton Airlines, a regional Australian airline which later became Regional Express Airlines. Orange is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is a regional electorate that covers four local government areas in their entirety: the City of Orange, Cabonne Council, Parkes Shire and Forbes Shire. The seat has been held by Philip Donato since a by-election in November 2016. Donato was initially elected as a member of the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party but resigned in 2022 and became an Independent. History Orange was created in 1859.
