Tony Pagone
Gaetano (Tony) Pagone is a retired Australian judge who previously served as a judge of the Federal Court of Australia from 21 June 2013 until 31 March 2018. Until 21 June 2013, he was a judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria in the Australian state of Victoria. He completed secondary education at De La Salle College, Malvern and completed tertiary education at Monash University, graduating B.A., Dip.Ed., LL.B. Issue 9 Winter/Autumn 2002 Monash Magazine. In 1983, he obtained an LL.M. from Trinity Hall, Cambridge. In 2001, he was awarded a Monash Distinguished Alumni Award. Pagone was appointed as Queen's Counsel in 1996. He was first appointed to the Supreme Court in 2001, and served until June 2002, when he took up the position of special counsel to the Commissioner of Taxation until December 2003. Federal Court Of Australia
The Federal Court of Australia is an Australian superior court of record which has jurisdiction to deal with most civil disputes governed by federal law (with the exception of family law matters), along with some summary (less serious) and indictable (more serious) criminal matters. Cases are heard at first instance by single judges. The court includes an appeal division referred to as the Full Court comprising three judges, the only avenue of appeal from which lies to the High Court of Australia. In the Australian court hierarchy, the Federal Court occupies a position equivalent to the supreme courts of each of the states and territories. In relation to the other courts in the federal stream, it is superior to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia for all jurisdictions except family law. The 2022 Australia Day Honours are appointments to various orders and honours to recognise and reward good works by Australian citizens.
