Tony Newman (drummer)
Richard Anthony Newman (born 17 March 1943) is an English rock drummer. He was at various times a member of the bands Sounds Incorporated, May Blitz, Three Man Army, T. Rex, and Boxer. He has performed with Little Richard, Jeff Beck, David Bowie, George Harrison, Robert Palmer, Eric Clapton, Donovan, Mick Ronson, Gene Vincent, Crystal Gayle, the Everly Brothers and others. In 1965, Newman played with Sounds Incorporated as one of the acts opening for the Beatles at Shea Stadium in New York. He played on Donovan's "Barabajagal" (1968),Donovan, ''Troubadour: The Definitive Collection, 1964–1976'', Epic Legacy CD 46986: Liner notes. as well as on Jeff Beck's '' Beck-Ola'' (1969). For David Bowie, he performed on the ''Diamond Dogs'' album in 1974, and live with Bowie on his subsequent North American tour, including a recording at the Tower Theater released as ''David Live''. Tony Newman (born 1947) is a British pop singer and guitarist. Biography Newman began learning the guitar as a teenager, taking inspiration from Eddie Cochran Ray Edward Cochran (; October 3, 1938 – April 17, 1960) was an American rock and roll musician. Cochran's songs, such as " Twenty Flight Rock", "Summertime Blues", " C'mon Everybody" and " Somethin' Else", captured teenage frustration and desir .... He formed "The Liberators", who in 1965 changed their name to Pinkerton's Assorted Colours. In February 1966, they peaked at number nine on the UK Singles Chart with "Mirror, Mirror". In 1969, the band reformed as The Flying Machine (band), The Flying Machine. In the United States, they had a hit with Smile a Little Smile for Me. The song went to number five in the US. Newman is now in the current version of Pinkerton's Assorted Colours, that came back together in the 1980s. The Australian Progressive Alliance (APA) was a minor "small-l-liberal" party in Australia, formed by Meg Lees, an independent senator and former leader of the Australian Democrats, in April 2003. The party ceased to operate and was deregistered in June 2005 following Senator Lees's defeat at the 2004 election and the expiry of her term. History Meg Lees resigned from the Democrats in July 2002 after being deposed as the party's leader in April 2001. She sat as an independent in the Senate before forming the APA in 2003. Other APA members included the former Democrat Queensland Senator John Woodley and Elisabeth Kirkby, a former Democrat member of the New South Wales Legislative Council. Policy Lees sought to position the APA as a party of the moderate centre, arguing that the Democrats, under the leadership of Cheryl Kernot, Natasha Stott Despoja and Andrew Bartlett, had moved too far to the left. Capital Radio 604
Capital Radio 604 was a radio station that broadcast to listeners in South Africa from transmitters located in the Transkei using Medium Wave (AM) on 603 kHz. Founded by Martin Rattle, the station started transmitting on 26 December 1979 and was shut down in 1996, as it was no longer financially viable. Capital Radio 604 had often supported the anti-apartheid liberation struggle and many highlighted the irony; that it was under the very same government that Capital and its staff had fought for in the past that the station would had to close down. Capital Radio 604 changed radio in South Africa forever when it introduced listeners to great uncensored music, polished presenters, uncensored news, and great jingles. Greatest Hits Radio (Lancashire) is an Independent Local Radio station based in Manchester, England, owned and operated by Bauer as part of the Greatest Hits Radio network. It broadcasts to Lancashire and North West England. As of June 2022, the station has a weekly audience of 23,000 listeners according to RAJAR.
