Tony McManus (Gaelic Footballer)
Tony McManus (born 14 April 1957) is a former Gaelic footballer from County Roscommon, Ireland. He played with the Roscommon intercounty team from the 1970s until the 1990s. He had much success winning Connacht Senior Football Championships in 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1990, 1991, a National League Title in 1979, an All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship in 1978, he also played in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final in 1980 when Roscommon lost out to Kerry, he also won an All Star Award in 1989. He had much success at club level also with Clann na nGael. He won 12 Roscommon Senior Football Championship medals in 1976-77, 1979, 1981–82, 1984–91, he won 7 Connacht Senior Club Football Championship medals in 1982, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989. UCD GAA
UCD GAA or University College Dublin Gaelic Athletic Association club is a Dublin based Gaelic games club in University College Dublin. The UCD hurling club was founded in 1900 and boasted the mottos "Ad Astra" and "Cothrom Féinne". The first team was an amalgamation of students from UCD and Cecilia St. Although UCD had been playing Gaelic football unofficially since 1900, the official club history began in the season of 1911/1912. The football club competes in the Sigerson Cup and Higher Education Leagues as well as in the Dublin Senior Football Championship and the O'Byrne Cup. Roscommon Senior Football Championship
The Roscommon Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the top Gaelic football clubs in County Roscommon. The winners of the Roscommon Championship receive the Fahey Cup and qualify to represent their county in the Connacht Senior Club Football Championship. The 2021 Championship was won by Padraig Pearses who defeated Clann na nGael by a score of 2-08 to 0-11. Roscommon representatives have gone on to win the Connacht title on thirteen occasions. The Sigerson Cup is the trophy for the premier Gaelic football championship among Higher Education institutions (Universities, Colleges and Institutes of Technology) in Ireland. It traditionally begins in mid January and ends in late February. The Sigerson Cup competition is administered by Comhairle Ard Oideachais Cumann Lúthchleas Gael (CLG), the GAA's Higher Education Council. The Connacht Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament played between senior clubs in Connacht, with one qualifying from each of the five individual county championships. Clann na nGael is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the southern end of County Roscommon, Ireland. The area comprises the two half parishes of Drum and Clonown, the parish being St Peter and Paul, Athlone. The club is the most successful in Roscommon in terms of titles won, with 21 Roscommon Senior Football titles, with the most recent in 2018. History The Clann na nGael club was formed in 1936 when the clubs of Drum and Clonown amalgamated. Clann na nGael (also known as Clann) won their first ever county title, the Junior Championship, in 1940, and were promoted to Senior status. The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC) ( ga, Craobh Shinsir Peile na hÉireann) is the premier competition in Gaelic football. An annual tournament organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), it is contested by the county teams in All-Ireland.
