Tony McGrane
Anthony Michael McGrane (1 June 1946 – 15 September 2004) was an Australian politician. McGrane was born in Forbes. He had a lengthy career in local government, as a long serving councillor in Gilgandra and Dubbo. McGrane was elected in March 1999 as an independent, defeating the National Party candidate, Richard Mutton by 14 votes to represent the seat of Dubbo in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly. Dubbo had been the safest National Party seat in New South Wales. He was re-elected in March 2003 with a significantly increased majority against the National Party's Mark Horton. After a short battle with liver cancer, McGrane died in Sydney in 2004. Gilgandra Shire is a local government area in the Orana region of New South Wales, Australia. The Shire is located adjacent to the junction of the Newell, Oxley and Castlereagh highways and can be reached in about six hours by car from Sydney CBD. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of primary liver cancer in adults and is currently the most common cause of death in people with cirrhosis. HCC is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Dawn Elizabeth Fardell (born 14 September 1947), a former Australian politician, was an independent member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Dubbo between 2004 and 2011. Early years and background Fardell was born Sydney and moved to Dubbo in 1977. She is married to a local businessman and has three adult children. Fardell was a Councillor for Dubbo City Council between 1999 and 2005. Political career Following the 2004 death of independent Tony McGrane, Fardell was elected to represent Dubbo at the subsequent by-election. Gerald Beresford Ponsonby Peacocke (2 June 1931 – 23 May 2013) was an Australian politician, elected as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly.
