Tony De Zorzi
Tony de Zorzi (born 28 August 1997) is a South African cricketer. He was included in the Northerns cricket team, Northerns squad for the 2016 Africa T20 Cup. He made his Twenty20 cricket, Twenty20 (T20) debut for Northerns against Kenya national cricket team, Kenya on 16 September 2016. Prior to his T20 debut, he was named as captain (cricket), captain of South Africa's squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Career He made his first-class cricket, first-class debut for Northerns in the 2016–17 Sunfoil 3-Day Cup on 28 October 2016. He made his List A cricket, List A debut for Northerns in the 2016–17 CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge on 31 October 2016. In August 2017, he was named in Pretoria Mavericks' squad for the first season of the T20 Global League. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. 2017–18 Momentum One Day Cup
The 2017–18 Momentum One Day Cup was a domestic one-day cricket championship that was held in South Africa. It was the 37th time that the championship was contested. The competition started on 20 December 2017 and concluded with the final on 3 February 2018. Titans were the defending champions. On 17 January 2018, JP Duminy set a new South African record for the most runs scored in a single over in a List A match, when he made 37 runs off the bowling of Eddie Leie. During the last round of group stage fixtures, Reeza Hendricks became the first player to score a century in all three franchise competitions in South Africa in the same season. Western Province (cricket Team)
Western Province is the team representing Western Cape province in domestic first-class cricket in South Africa. The team began playing in January 1890 and its main venue has always been Newlands in Cape Town. Under the reorganisation of professional South African cricket in the 1990s and more recently, Western Province joined with Boland to form the side that now plays in the SuperSport Series under the name Cape Cobras and divides its time between Newlands and the Boland Park ground in Paarl. Western Province still competes under its provincial name in the UCB Provincial series. Cape Cobras
The Six Gun Grill Cape Cobras are a franchise cricket team representing the Western Province, Boland, and South Western Districts areas in South African domestic cricket. The team's home venues are Newlands Cricket Ground, Cape Town, Boland Park, Paarl, and the Recreation Ground, Oudtshoorn. They have had the privilege of playing in the Champions League Twenty20. The Cobras play in the 4-Day Franchise Series, Momentum One Day Cup and T20 Challenge competitions. They are one of the most successful domestic sides in the franchise era. The 2019–20 CSA 4-Day Franchise Series was a first-class cricket competition that took place in South Africa from October 2019 to April 2020. Lions were the defending champions. 2019 Mzansi Super League
The 2019 Mzansi Super League, also known as the MSL 2.0, was the second edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL) Twenty20 (T20) franchise cricket tournament in South Africa. It started on 8 November and ended on 16 December 2019. Jozi Stars were the defending champions, having won the inaugural 2018 tournament. Squads On 7 August 2019, Cricket South Africa announced that more than 250 cricketers had registered for the tournament's draft. Each of the six franchise teams also named the players they had retained for this years' edition. The following day the marquee players were announced. Mzansi Super League
The Mzansi Super League (MSL) was a Twenty20 cricket (T20) franchise league held in South Africa. The competition was established in 2018 by Cricket South Africa (CSA) as a replacement for the failed T20 Global League, but only two editions were played before the competition was itself cancelled in favour of the SA20 competition from 2022/23. The first edition of the tournament took place in November and December 2018. The South African Broadcasting Corporation broadcast all matches domestically on free-to-air channels. The league consisted of six franchise teams representing different South African cities. Two editions were played under this format before changes were proposed to reflect the wide structural changes that were announced for South African domestic cricket in 2021, but the competition did not run in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID 19 pandemic and was then cancelled.
