Tony Clarke (British Politician)
Anthony Richard Clarke (born 6 September 1963, Northampton, England), known as Tony Clarke is a British former Member of Parliament, who is currently a teacher at Northampton College. A politician of the left, Clarke was until was until recently the Green Party National Spokesperson on International and Foreign Affairs; previously a British Labour Party politician, he was Member of Parliament for Northampton South from 1997 to 2005. Clarke was also a director of Northampton Town F.C. for 11 years from 1999 to 2010, and served as General Manager at the club between 2005 and 2008. He served three terms (12 years) on Northampton Borough Council (2 Labour, 1 Independent) and one term (4 years) on Northamptonshire County Council (Independent). He also served as a Special Constable with Northamptonshire Police between 2003 and 2007. Anthony "Tony" Laurence Clarke, (19 June 1961), is the only Australian Paralympic Games, Paralympic judoka gold medallist. He represented Australia at five Summer Paralympic Games and medalled at the 1993 Australian National Judo Championships competing against sighted opponents. Personal life Clarke was born in Adelaide, South Australia on 19 June 1961 and was raised in Kilburn, South Australia, Kilburn, Adelaide. He began drinking at age 14 and moved out of home the following year to work as a "Sanitary engineering, sanitation engineer". His judo coach and mentor Michael Headland perceived "a life which was not going to amount to anything". In 1978 Clarke lost control of the wheel of his car and drove it into a Stobie pole. Tony Clarke (born 1944) is a Canadian activist. Biography Clarke grew up in Chilliwack, British Columbia, graduating from Chilliwack Senior Secondary School in 1962. He was class president. He studied at the University of British Columbia and did graduate work at the University of Chicago, obtaining a PhD in the history of religion. He presented a dissertation titled ''The Color Line and the American Metropolis: A Search for a Form of Ministry in the Aftermath of the Civil Rights Movement in Chicago'' (1974). After Chicago, he worked for the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops for 21 years, serving as Director of Social Policy. Clarke was the chair of the Action Canada Network, a coalition of labor groups and activists that led the battle against the 1987 Canada-United States Free Trade Agreement. Anthony Peter Clarke, Baron Clarke of Stone-cum-Ebony, (born 13 May 1943) is a British lawyer. He was one of the first 11 Supreme Court of the United Kingdom Justices and was the first High Court judge to be appointed directly to that court when it came into existence on 1 October 2009 without previously having sat as a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary. He was appointed to the Court of Final Appeal of Hong Kong on 11 April 2011 as a non-permanent judge. He was previously Master of the Rolls and Head of Civil Justice in England and Wales. Anthony Ralph Clarke (21 August 1941 – 4 January 2010) was an English rock music record producer and guitarist. Born in Coventry, he is best known for producing The Moody Blues from 1966 to 1978. Biography Clarke played bass guitar in skiffle bands in the middle and late 1950s, and continued playing in rock bands into the early 1960s. Alongside this, he found work as a session musician for Decca Records, and in 1963 he was hired by the label as a promoter. In 1964 he transferred to the production department, working under Dick Rowe. Most of his early work was spent on clerical and discographical tasks, though he also worked as a songwriter; his tune "Our Song" was recorded by Malcolm Roberts (who had a hit with it in South America) and Jack Jones.
