Tony Archer (referee)
Tony Archer is an Australian former rugby league referee. He presided over 319 National Rugby League games as referee between 1999 and 2012 as well as being the referee of 13 State of Origin matches and 9 International matches, including at the 2008 World Cup. He was the former National Rugby League referee's elite performance manager. Rugby league career Archer made his first grade debut controlling a Western Suburbs Magpies v Canterbury Bulldogs match at Campbelltown on 24 July 1999. Since then he has refereed the NRL Grand Final in 2007 2009 & 2010, at the 2008 World Cup, 2010 Four Nations and also controlled the 2010 All Stars match. Archer was named international referee of the year in 2007 and 2008. On 3 November 2011 The annual RLIF Awards dinner was held at the Tower of London and Archer was named referee of the year. Tower Of London
The Tower of London, officially His Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London, is a historic castle on the north bank of the River Thames in central London. 2014 NRL Season
The 2014 NRL season was the 107th season of professional rugby league in Australia and the 17th season of the National Rugby League in Australia and New Zealand. The season started in New Zealand, for the Auckland Nines, replacing the Rugby League All Stars Match for the year, in the pre-season. After 26 rounds of the regular season, the Sydney Roosters were again crowned minor premiers and the competition had been reduced to a top eight teams to contest the finals series. The grand final was won by the South Sydney Rabbitohs, ending a 43-year premiership drought, winning 30-6 against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs. RLIF Awards
The RLIF Awards are the Rugby League International Federation's annual major international sporting award for rugby league. Since 2004 the awards ceremony recognises the best referee, coach, developing nations player, international newcomer, captain and a team of the year. In 2007, the RLIF did not organise any awards. To fill the gap, Rugby League World magazine asked its Golden Boot panel to come up with winners in the existing categories used by the RLIF. Coinciding with the 2008 Rugby League World Cup, the RLIF Awards were rebranded and the old award system was replaced.
