Tonsley Park
Tonsley is a southern suburb of Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. History The suburb of Tonsley was created on 27 January 2017 by dividing the suburb of Clovelly Park in half. The southern part of the suburb was separated from Clovelly Park and named Tonsley at that time. Named after England's Tonsley Hall, it includes the former vehicle assembly plant, which was often called ''Tonsley Park''. The Chrysler Australia car plant was opened in 1964. The factory was taken over by Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) in 1980 and closed in 2008. The former vehicle factory is being developed as the Tonsley Innovation District with light industry, campuses of TAFE and Flinders University as well as residential development. Electoral District Of Elder
Elder is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It is named after nineteenth-century businessman and philanthropist Sir Thomas Elder. Elder is an 18.3 km² suburban electorate in Adelaide's inner south, taking in the suburbs of Clapham, Clovelly Park, Colonel Light Gardens, Cumberland Park, Daw Park, Hawthorn, Lower Mitcham, Melrose Park, Mitchell Park, Panorama, Pasadena, St Marys, Tonsley, and Westbourne Park. Elder was created as a marginal Labor electorate at the 1991 electoral redistribution taking suburbs in from much of the abolished Walsh and also from the redistributed Mitchell. Elder was won by Liberal David Wade with an 8.0 percent swing at the landslide Liberal victory of the 1993 election. Clovelly Park, South Australia
Clovelly Park is an inner southern suburb of Adelaide in the local government area of the City of Marion. Before becoming an 'advanced' suburb, it was a farm and vineyard. The suburb is bordered by Daws Road to the north, South Road to the east, Sturt Road to the south, and a combination of Percy Avenue and the Flinders railway line to the west. It is situated approximately 20 minutes from the Adelaide city centre, and about 2 minutes from Flinders University, Flinders Medical Centre and Westfield Marion. Etymology Clovelly Park is named after the village in Devon, England of the same name. St Marys is a suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, located to the south of the Central Business District. It is bordered by Daws Road (north), South Road (west), Cashel Street (east) and Mill Terrace (south). The suburb is located within the City of Mitcham local government authority. ''St Marys Park'' is one of the largest reserves within the suburb and was originally the training ground of the South Adelaide Football Club. Bedford Park, South Australia
Bedford Park is a southern suburb of Adelaide in South Australia. The Hancock family established a homestead and farm at the foot of the Adelaide Hills in the mid 19th century. A family name from an earlier generation lent its name to the property of ''Bedford'' which was later changed to ''Bedford Park''. In 1917, of the property was purchased by the South Australian Government and a tuberculosis sanatorium was built. Initially housing World War I soldiers the sanatorium was expanded until, by 1924, it had 74 beds and was a self-supporting farm with pigs, chickens, orchards and grain production. The sanatorium was demolished and Flinders University built in its place in the 1960s. Mitchell Park, South Australia
Mitchell Park is a suburb south of Adelaide. It shares common boundaries with Marion, Bedford Park, Clovelly Park, and Ascot Park.
