Tonny Van Leeuwen
Teunis Pieter van Leeuwen (21 March 1943 – 15 June 1971) was a Dutch association football, footballer who played as a goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper for GVAV Groningen and Sparta Rotterdam. He made two appearances for the Netherlands national football team, Netherlands national team in 1967. Club career Early life and Sparta Rotterdam Van Leeuwen was born in Gouda, South Holland, the son of a furniture maker, and grew up in the working class neighbourhood of . He played for local clubs CVV de Jodan Boys, Jodan Boys and before signing for Sparta Rotterdam. At Sparta Rotterdam, van Leeuwen was brought in as an understudy to . Due to van Dijk's injuries he got more playing time than planned and made his senior debut on 1 May 1960 against AFC DWS, DWS at the age of 17, keeping a clean sheet in a 0–0 draw. Gouda () is a city and municipality in the west of the Netherlands, between Rotterdam and Utrecht, in the province of South Holland. Football Club Groningen () is a Dutch professional association football club based in Groningen, province of Groningen. Founded on 16 June 1971 as the successor of GVAV, the team compete in the Eredivisie, the highest tier of Dutch football. The Eerste Divisie (, en, First Division) is the second-highest tier of football in the Netherlands. It is linked with the top-level Eredivisie and with the third-level Tweede Divisie via promotion/relegation systems. It is also known as the Keuken Kampioen Divisie due to sponsorship, while previously it was known as Jupiler League for the same reason. History The Eerste Divisie consists of 20 clubs, who play each other in a double round-robin league, with each club playing the other club home and away. Each club plays every other club once in the first half of the season before the league takes a winter break around the Christmas and New Year's holiday season.
