António Leonel Vilar Nogueira Sousa (; born 13 April 1980), known as Tonel, is a Portuguese former professional footballer who played as a central defender, and a manager. Over ten seasons, he amassed Primeira Liga totals of 224 games and 15 goals, mainly representing Sporting with which he won four major titles. He also played three years in the Croatian First Football League, with Dinamo Zagreb. Ânderson Corrêa Polga (born 9 February 1979) is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. He spent most of his professional career with Sporting in Portugal, appearing in 327 official games (four goals) and winning four major titles. He started playing for Grêmio. Polga represented the Brazil national team at the 2002 World Cup, winning the competition. The Big Three ( pt, Os Três Grandes) is the nickname of the three most successful and biggest football clubs in Portugal. The teams of S.L. Benfica and Sporting CP, both from Lisbon, and of FC Porto, from Porto, have a great rivalry and are usually the main contenders for the Primeira Liga title. They share all but two of the Portuguese Football Championships ever played, and generally end up sharing the top three positions. None of them have been relegated from the Primeira Liga either, having been participants in all editions since its first season in 1934–35. 2004–05 Primeira Liga
The 2004–05 Primeira Liga was the 71st edition of top flight of Portuguese football. It started on 28 August 2004 with a match between Belenenses and Marítimo, and ended on 22 May 2005. Benfica won their 31st league title, with 65 points, three points ahead of the defending champions Porto. The league was contested by 18 clubs, and was considered one of the most competitive seasons in recent years. The first goal of the season was scored by Belenenses centre-back Rolando. The first red card of the season was given to Vitória de Setúbal's Bruno Ribeiro, and the first yellow was given to Belenenses' Juninho Petrolina in the opening match of the season. Benfica and Porto were both qualified for the 2005–06 UEFA Champions League group stage, and Sporting CP qualified for the UEFA Champions League qualifying round. Mitchell van der Gaag (born 22 October 1971) is a Dutch professional football coach and former player who played as a centre-back, currently the assistant manager of Manchester United. He made 208 Eredivisie appearances and scored 19 goals, for NEC, Sparta Rotterdam, PSV and Utrecht. 2004–05 UEFA Cup
The 2004–05 UEFA Cup was the 34th edition of the UEFA Cup. The format of the competition had changed from previous seasons, replacing that from the previous one after the abolition of the Cup Winners' Cup in 1999; an extra qualifying round was introduced, as was a group phase after the first round. The group stage operated in a single round-robin format consisting of eight groups of five teams, each team plays two games at home and two away and the top three finishers of each group progress to the knock-out round, joining the eight third-placed teams from the UEFA Champions League group stage. The tournament was won by PFC CSKA Moscow, CSKA Moscow, coming from behind in the final against Sporting CP, in whose home stadium the match was played.
