Tone Groven Holmboe
Tone Alis Groven Holmboe (9 January 1930 – 10 June 2020) was a Norwegian composer and teacher. Personal life She was the second daughter of composer and innovator Eivind Groven, and teacher and singer Ragna Groven. She was married to Adler Holmboe (1923-2014) of the Holmboe family, and they have three children, Ragnhild (1955), Kristin (1959) and Thorolf (1967). Works and musical style She composed in a classical idiom, with strong flavours of Norwegian folk music. The music is fully tonal and structurally simple, yet with attention to small rhythmic and harmonic details and variations. The bulk of her work is songs, mostly for voice and piano (ca. 100). She has written a number of chamber musical duets and solos, most notably ''Syv slåtter og impresjoner for piano solo'' ("Seven Dances and Impressions for Piano Solo"). A composer is a person who writes music. The term is especially used to indicate composers of Western classical music, or those who are composers by occupation. Eivind Groven
Eivind Groven (8 October 1901 – 8 February 1977) was a Norwegian composer and music-theorist. He was from traditional region of Vest-Telemark and had a background in the folk music of the area. Biography Groven was born in the village of Lårdal in Telemark, Norway. Groven's rural background was filled with traditional music. He came from a family of talented musicians and artists, prominent in his home area. His father, Olav Åsmundsson Gjøitil (1865–1947) was the youngest of eight siblings. Two of his father's brothers played the hardanger fiddle. His mother, Aslaug Rikardsdotter Berge (1863–1946), was the youngest daughter of Rikard Aslaksson Berge, known for preserving a great amount of old tunes, religious songs and dance-tunes and a friend of Myllarguten's. Holmboe is a Norwegian family which originated at Hirsholmene in Jutland, Denmark. Sigmund Groven (born 16 March 1946 in Heddal, Telemark) is a Norwegian classical harmonica player, today considered one of the world's leading classical harmonica players. He plays with a large number of the world's leading musicians and orchestras, and he has made 23 recordings yet in his own name (compilations not counted). His repertoire ranges from popular and folk music to his own compositions, from Bach to contemporary music.
