Willie Bobo
William Correa (February 28, 1934 – September 15, 1983), better known by his stage name Willie Bobo,[ Biography], ''AllMusic'' was an American Latin jazz percussionist of Puerto Rican descent. Bobo rejected the stereotypical expectations of Latino Music, Latino music and was noted for combining elements of jazz, Latin and rhythm and blues music. Early life Born William Correa to a Puerto Rican family, Bobo grew up in Spanish Harlem, New York City, United States. His father played the Cuatro (instrument), cuatro, a ten stringed guitar-like instrument. As a teenager, Bobo taught himself the Bongo drum, bongos and later the congas, timbales and Drum kit, drums. In 1947, Bobo started working as a Bandboy, band boy for Machito in order to gain entrance to the band's concerts, sometimes filling in on percussion. Jim Hughart
James David Hughart (born July 28, 1936) is a jazz and pop bass player. Biography Hughart was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, and is the son of Frederick (Fritz) Hughart, bassist with Minneapolis Symphony and San Diego Symphony, and Annette Hughart (née Bastien). Hughart began working as a musician in 1953. In 1957 he received a BA (Music Composition & Theory, Bass) from the University of Minnesota. Following graduation, Hughart was drafted and for two years, traveled throughout Europe performing with the Seventh Army Symphony Orchestra. After his discharge from the Army, he joined Ella Fitzgerald's touring band following a recommendation from Ray Brown. During his three years with Ella Fitzgerald, Hughart started his extensive recording career. In 1964 he moved to Los Angeles and became a very active session musician. Guitar
The guitar is a fretted musical instrument that typically has six strings. It is usually held flat against the player's body and played by strumming or plucking the strings with the dominant hand, while simultaneously pressing selected strings against frets with the fingers of the opposite hand. A plectrum or individual finger picks may also be used to strike the strings. Curtis Robertson Jr
Curtis Robertson Jr. (born 1953) is an American bassist, guitarist and songwriter. He was once married to former Motown singer Syreeta, the former wife of Stevie Wonder. Curtis was influential in the development of Syreeta's music and recorded and co-wrote music with Syreeta. Curtis also toured with the Les McCann/Eddie Harris Band, Robben Ford, Maxine Weldon, Steve Hillage, Randy Crawford, Gary Bartz, Gladys Knight and recorded with Bobby "Blue" Bland, Gary Bartz, Freddie Hubbard, David T. Walker, and Richard Thompson. Between 1990 and 2005, Curtis was the bassist for Lou Rawls. Like with Syreeta, he helped shape the music for which Rawls would become known.
