Tommy Sullivan (curler)
Thomas Sullivan (born November 23, 1977) is a Canadian curler from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Sullivan was originally from New Brunswick. As a junior curler, he skipped the New Brunswick team at the 1997 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. At the juniors, he led his team to a 7–5 round robin record, which was good enough to be in a five-way tie for third place. In order to make the playoffs, they would have to win two tiebreaker matches. They won their first game against the Yukon's Wyatt Redlin, but lost their second match against Ontario, skipped by future Olympic gold medalist John Morris. The next year, Sullivan won his one and only provincial championship, playing third for the Terry Odishaw rink. The team represented New Brunswick at the 1998 Labatt Brier, finishing the event with a 4–7 record. Sullivan later moved to Nova Scotia, and joined the Mark Dacey rink in 2009 at third. Mayflower Curling Club
The Mayflower Curling Club, which was founded in 1905, since 1962 has been located at 3000 Monaghan Drive in Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality in Halifax. The club is one of the premier curling rinks in Nova Scotia, being home to the teams headed by Colleen Jones, Mark Dacey, Shawn Adams, and Heather Smith-Dacey. The club was host for the curling events during the 2011 Canada Winter Games. In 1912 the club's then-premises on Agricola Street was used as a temporary morgue for the bodies of '' Titanic'' disaster victims recovered from the North Atlantic by the Halifax-based ship the '' CS Mackay-Bennett'', as it was the only site in the city that was both sufficiently large and cold enough for the task. Mark Dacey
Mark Dacey (born June 22, 1966) is a Canadian curler originally from Saskatchewan. He was based at the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dacey is a former Canadian men's curling champion skip, having won the 2004 Nokia Brier. He defeated Randy Ferbey's team, ending their 3-year Brier winning streak. Dacey went on to win a bronze medal at the 2004 Ford World Curling Championship. Competitive history Mark Dacey was a runner-up in the 1995 Brier, as the vice-skip for team Saskatchewan (skipped by Brad Heidt). Representing Nova Scotia, he reached the 2001 Nokia Brier, finishing with a 6-5 record, and at the 2003 Nokia Brier in Halifax, he finished third during the round-robin, with a 7-4 record. The 2014 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Trials was held March 19 to 23 at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club in Ottawa, Ontario. It is the second Canadian Mixed Doubles championship. The winning pair of Wayne Tuck Jr. and wife Kim Tuck Kimberly Tuck ( Veale; born September 25, 1974) is a Canadian curler from Strathroy, Ontario. Mary-Anne Arsenault
Mary-Anne Arsenault (born August 19, 1968 in Scarborough, Ontario, also known as Mary-Anne Waye when she was married) is a Canadian curler from Lake Country, British Columbia. She is a five-time Canadian Champion, and two-time World Curling Champion. Arsenault has skipped her own team since 2007. Career 1999–2006 Arsenault joined up with Colleen Jones prior to the 1999 season. She had previously played with Jones, as her lead at the 1993 Scott Tournament of Hearts. Together with Jones, Nancy Delahunt and Kim Kelly, the team would achieve great success, winning 5 Canadian Championships, and 2 World Championships. After a record winning 4 championships in a row, the team would struggle at the 2005 Scott Tournament of Hearts. Grand Slam (curling)
The Grand Slam of Curling (branded as the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling for sponsorship reasons) is a series of curling bonspiels that are a part of the annual World Curling Tour. Grand Slam events offer a purse of at least CAD$100,000, and feature the best teams from across Canada and around the World. The Grand Slam was instituted during the 2001–02 season for men and 2006–07 for women (with the 2006 Players' Championship also considered a Slam), but some of the Grand Slam events have longer histories as bonspiels. The Grand Slam season consists of six men's and women's events. The original four events (Masters, Open, National, and Players' Championship) are considered to be "majors". 2012 Challenge Chateau Cartier De Gatineau
The 2012 Challenge Chateau Cartier de Gatineau was held from October 25 to 28 at the Centre Sportif Robert-Rochon in Gatineau and at the Buckingham Curling Club in Buckingham, Quebec as part of the 2012–13 World Curling Tour. World Curling Tour
The World Curling Tour (WCT) is a group of curling bonspiels featuring the best male, female, and mixed doubles curlers in the world. History The World Curling Tour was founded by former World Champion Ed Lukowich, with later assistance from John Kawaja. The World Curling Tour commenced in 1992, with men's events only at first. It replaced the "Canadian Curling Tour" held the previous season. The first season consisted of 48 events (with only one outside Canada), and was sponsored by Seagram's distillery. Teams earned points in every event with the top 30 qualifying for the season ending " V.O. Cup", today known as the Players' Championship. Its first president and CEO was Lukowich.
