Tommy Johansson (speedway Rider)
Tommy Johansson (born 21 October 1950) is a former speedway rider from Sweden. Speedway career Johansson is a former champion of Sweden, winning the Swedish Championship in 1973. He reached the final of the Speedway World Championship during the 1974 Individual Speedway World Championship and the final of the 1971 Individual Ice Speedway World Championship. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway from 1971 until 1975, riding for various clubs. Dackarna
Dackarna is a speedway club from MÃ¥lilla in Sweden who compete in the Swedish Elitserien. Their home track is at the Skrotfrag Arena which has been used as the venue for the Grand Prix of Scandinavia since 2005. History The team was founded in May 1935 as MÃ¥lilla Motorklubb and in 1949 renamed itself Dackarna (in honour of Nils Dacke) and the club began league racing. Dackarna raced in the highest level of league racing in Sweden between 1951 and 1965, winning the league championship in 1957, 1958, 1959, and 1962, and finished as runners-up in 1956 and 1964. Dackarna switched between the first and second league for the next 30 years until 1997 when the team received the backing of a major new sponsor (Svelux) and were renamed Team Svelux. Svelux were taken over by Luxo in 2002 and the team name was changed to Luxo Stars. In 2006 the sponsorship deal expired and the team name reverted to Dackarna. Inzell is a municipality in the district of Traunstein in Bavaria, Germany. It is known for the Eisstadion Inzell, an outdoor artificial ice rink that has been used for many international speed skating championships. It is now an indoor oval. 1974 Individual Speedway World Championship
The 1974 Individual Speedway World Championship was the 29th edition of the official World Championship to determine the world champion rider. Sweden's own Anders Michanek scored a 15-point maximum to claim his only Individual world title in front of a capacity crowd at the Ullevi stadium in Göteborg. Four time champion Ivan Mauger finished second on 11 points after winning a run-off with Swede Sören Sjösten who also scored 11. With the defending champion Jerzy Szczakiel not qualifying after finishing last in the 2nd Continental Semi-final, the only other World Champion in the field was Denmark's Ole Olsen who suffered a horror night, finishing second in his first ride before falling in his second and not being able to contest the rest of the meeting. Bysarna
Bysarna were a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based at the Gamla Speedway Track, in Galgberget, north of Visby on the island of Gotland in Sweden. They were four times league champions of Sweden. Season summary History 1921 to 1951 The beginning of speedway in Visby can be traced back to November 1921 when the Gotland Motor Association was formed. Eight years later in 1929 the Gotland Motorcycle Club were riding dirt track races. A meeting was held at Gutavallen on 23 October and several other meetings took place at various venues before the war. After the war a suitable piece of land was acquired in Galgberget and the track was completed in 1951. 1967 to 1977 Although a track existed in Visby there was no team until 1967, when a team called Bysarna entered Division 3 east, during the 1967 Swedish speedway season.
