Tommy Henry (baseball)
Thomas Jack Henry (born July 29, 1997) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball for the Michigan Wolverines. Early life Henry attended Portage Northern High School in Portage, Michigan, where he was the 2016 Mr. Baseball and Gatorade Player of the Year. College career In 2017 and 2018, he played collegiate summer baseball for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod Baseball League. As a junior, Henry led the 2019 Michigan Wolverines baseball team to the 2019 College World Series. Despite having been hospitalized with the flu, he was the winning pitcher against No. 1 UCLA in the deciding game of the NCAA Super Regional on June 9. On June 17, he pitched a three-hit, complete-game shutout with 10 strikeouts against Florida State in the College World Series. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. The pitcher is often considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game, and as such is situated at the right end of the defensive spectrum. 2019 UCLA Bruins Baseball Team
The 2019 UCLA Bruins baseball team represents the University of California, Los Angeles in the 2019 NCAA Division I baseball season as a member of the Pac-12 Conference. The team is coached by John Savage and plays their home games at Jackie Robinson Stadium. UCLA finished the regular season with a 47–8 overall record (24–5 in conference). They were the #1 ranked team for much of the year, and were awarded the #1 overall seed in the 2019 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. Triple-A (baseball)
Triple-A (officially Class AAA) has been the highest level of play in Minor League Baseball in the United States since 1946. Currently, two sports league, leagues operate at the Triple-A level, the International League (IL) and the Pacific Coast League (PCL). There are 30 teams, one per each Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise, with 20 in the IL and 10 in the PCL. Triple-A teams are generally located in smaller cities as well as larger metropolitan areas without MLB teams, such as Austin, Texas, Austin, Jacksonville, Florida, Jacksonville, Columbus, Ohio, Columbus, and Indianapolis. The Hillsboro Hops are a Minor League Baseball team in the Pacific Northwest, northwest United States, located in Hillsboro, Oregon, a city in the Portland metropolitan area. The 2019 Major League Baseball (MLB) First-Year Player Draft was held from June 3 to 5, 2019. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to MLB teams. The draft order was set based on the reverse order of the 2018 MLB season standings. In addition, compensation picks were distributed for players who did not sign from the 2018 MLB Draft and for teams that lost qualifying free agents. The first 41 picks, including the first round and compensatory picks, were broadcast by MLB Network on June 3, and the second round was streamed on MLB.com directly following the first round. Erik Bakich
Erik Michael Bakich (born November 27, 1977) is an American baseball coach and former left fielder, who is the current head baseball coach of the Clemson Tigers. Bakich played college baseball at San Jose City College (1997–1998) and East Carolina University for head coach Keith LeClair from 1999 to 2000. He served as the head coach of Maryland Terrapins (2010–2012) and the Michigan Wolverines (2013–2022). Early life Bakich attended Bellarmine College Preparatory, graduating in 1996.
