Tommy Giles Rogers Jr.
Tommy Giles Rogers (born December 30, 1980 in Morganton, North Carolina) is an American musician, most notable for being the lead vocalist, keyboardist and lyricist of the American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me, which he co-founded in 2000. His vocal style combines death growls and screams with peaceful clean singing melodies, sometimes including falsetto. In 2005, ''Stylus Magazine'' named Rogers one of the three most versatile rock singers at the time. Musical career Rogers grew up playing guitar but he sang for a hardcore punk band named Soul Integrity in high school. In 1999, he became the guitarist for the metalcore band, Prayer for Cleansing; when they disbanded, Rogers co-founded the progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me in 2000. Morganton is a city in and the county seat of Burke County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 16,918 at the 2010 census. Morganton is approximately northwest of Charlotte. Ayreon is a musical project by Dutch songwriter, singer, musician and record producer Arjen Anthony Lucassen. Ayreon's music is described as progressive rock, progressive metal and power metal sometimes combined with genres such as folk, electronica, experimental and classical music. ''Deconstruction'' is the thirteenth studio album by Canadian musician Devin Townsend, and the third album in the Devin Townsend Project series. The album was released on June 20, 2011, simultaneously with the fourth Devin Townsend Project album ''Ghost'', on Townsend's independent record label HevyDevy Records. The album features two drummers, Dirk Verbeuren and Ryan Van Poederooyen, as well as a number of guest vocalists. Devin Garrett Townsend (born May 5, 1972) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. He founded extreme metal band Strapping Young Lad and was its primary songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist from 1994 to 2007. He has also had an extensive solo career and has released a total of 28 albums across all of his projects as of 2022. After performing in a number of heavy metal bands in high school, Townsend was discovered in 1993 by a record label who asked him to perform lead vocals on Steve Vai's album ''Sex & Religion''. ''Between the Buried and Me'' is the debut studio album by American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me. It was produced by Jamie King and was released on April 30, 2002 through Lifeforce Records. Background Between the Buried and Me formed in 2000 in Raleigh, North Carolina after the demise of metalcore bands From Here On and Prayer for Cleansing, which Rogers, Waggoner, and Goodyear had been members of. Guitarist Nick Fletcher and bassist Jason King would subsequently join the band. Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. Screaming is an extended vocal technique that is popular in "aggressive" music genres such as heavy metal, punk rock, and noise music and others. It is common in the more extreme subgenres of heavy metal, such as death and black metal as well as many other subgenres.
