Tommy Gallagher (trainer)
Thomas Gallagher is a boxing trainer best known for his role on reality show The Contender as a profane and straight-shooting trainer and coach. In 2014, Gallagher was a cast member of season 2 of Esquire Network's White Collar Brawlers. Gallagher trained WBC welter-weight champion Andre Berto when he was an amateur and now coaches a team of amateurs at Inferno Gym Naples, Florida. As an amateur fighter, Gallagher won a Golden Gloves title in 1959, but was prevented from turning pro due to a kidney problem. Gallagher since has worked almost forty years as a trainer, manager, promoter, and gym owner and operator. The Contender (TV Series)
''The Contender'' is an American reality television series that initially aired from March 3, 2005 to January 7, 2009 on NBC, ESPN, and Versus and currently airs on Epix. Each season of the series follows a group of boxers as they compete with one another in an elimination-style competition, while their lives and relationships with each other and their families are depicted. The series was created and executive produced by Mark Burnett. The first three seasons of the show were hosted by Sugar Ray Leonard, who shared hosting duties in the first season with actor Sylvester Stallone. Leonard departed the series after season three and Tony Danza joined as his replacement. Andre Berto
Andre Michael Berto (born September 7, 1983) is a professional boxer who holds dual American and Haitian citizenship. He is a two-time former welterweight world champion, having held the WBC and IBF titles between 2008 and 2011, as well as the WBA interim title in 2015. As an amateur he won the National Golden Gloves tournament in 2001 (at light middleweight) and 2003 (welterweight), and would represent the U.S. at the 2003 World Championships, winning a welterweight bronze medal. Doug DeWitt (born August 13, 1961) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1980 to 1992, holding the inaugural WBO middleweight title from 1989 to 1990. Vito Antuofermo (; born February 9, 1953) is an Italian American actor and retired professional boxer. He is a former undisputed World Middleweight Champion. Background Antuofermo was born in Italy, in the town of Palo del Colle, about inland from the city of Bari. His family moved to the United States when he was 17 years old. Don Lalonde
Donny Lalonde (born March 12, 1960) is a retired professional boxer. His nickname is "Golden Boy," after the Golden Boy statue atop the Manitoba Legislative Building in his boxing home town of Winnipeg. Lalonde held the WBC Light Heavyweight Championship from 1987 to 1988. Early career Lalonde was born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. On April 26, 1997, he challenged for the Lineal Heavyweight Championship, and lost by a controversial split decision to the Lineal World Heavyweight Champion George Foreman. Sergey Kobozev (Kostroma, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union; 20 July 1964 – 8 November 1995) was a Russian boxer, who challenged for the WBC Cruiserweight title in 1995. He is also known as a first boxer to defeat John Ruiz. He proved to be a tough slugger, but his career ended early after he was killed by the Russian mafia. Kobozev was the Cruiserweight Champion of the Soviet Union. Laurensio Segundo Mercado (born 5 January 1967) is a retired male boxer from Ecuador. Mercado represented Ecuador at the 1988 Summer Olympics, losing on points in the boxing competition to Martin Kitel of Sweden. He turned professional after the games and, fighting as a middleweight, built up a record of 18-2.
