Tommy (Dosh Album)
''Tommy'' is the fifth solo studio album by American multi-insturmentalist Dosh. It was released on Anticon on April 13, 2010. Andrew Bird contributed vocals on "Number 41" and "Nevermet". "Airlift" contains a sample of Dosh and his friend covering "Run Like Hell" by Pink Floyd. The album is named after and dedicated to Tom Cesario. Critical reception At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 76% based on 11 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Zach Cole of '' URB'' gave the album 4 stars out of 5, saying, "Dosh's focus on ''Tommy'' falls on the elegance of the music first and foremost, and the tracks evoke warmth as they evolve in sequence." Dosh (musician)
Martin Chavez Dosh (born September 6, 1972), better known mononymously as Dosh, is a multi-instrumentalist based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Style Dosh is principally a percussionist who usually adds a Rhodes piano to his kit and uses other electronic devices such as samplers and looping pedals. He has been characterized as experimental/electronica due to his use of signal-altering devices in performance to allow him to create live solo performances using keyboards, tuned percussion, and drums. Dosh often collaborates with other musicians in recordings and live performances, both as leader and in support. Dosh is also known for the incorporation of his family life into his work. ''Naoise EP'' is named after his son. "Happy Song for Tadgh" from the EP is a reference to Naoise's half-brother, Tadgh. Jeremy Ylvisaker is a multi-instrumentalist from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is a member of the indie rock bands Alpha Consumer and The Cloak Ox. Career He is a member of Alpha Consumer along with Michael Lewis and JT Bates. The band has released three albums, including ''Kick Drugs Out of America'' (2011). He is also a member of The Cloak Ox along with Andrew Broder of Fog, Mark Erickson and Dosh. In 2011, the band released the debut EP ''Prisen''. Fog is an American indie rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formed in 1999. The band is fronted by Andrew Broder, and for a time included Mark Erickson and Tim Glenn. After ending the project in 2008, Broder announced its return as a solo project in 2014. Most of Fog's releases have been put out by Lex Records or Ninja Tune. "Run Like Hell" is a song by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, written by David Gilmour and Roger Waters. It appears on the album ''The Wall''. Andrew Wegman Bird (born July 11, 1973) is an American indie rock multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter. Since 1996, he has released 16 studio albums, as well as several live albums and EPs, spanning various genres including swing music, indie rock, and folk music. He is primarily known for his unique style of violin playing, accompanied by loop and effect pedals, whistling, and voice. In the 1990s, he sang and played violin in several jazz ensembles, including Squirrel Nut Zippers and Kevin O'Donnell's Quality Six.
