Tommaso (2016 Film)
''Tommaso'' is a 2016 Italian comedy-drama film written by, directed by and starring Kim Rossi Stuart. It was screened out of competition at the 73rd edition of the Venice Film Festival. Plot After a lengthy relationship, Tommaso manages to get away from Chiara, his companion. Now waiting for him - he thinks - is endless freedom and countless adventures. He is a young, handsome, kind and romantic actor, but he perpetually swings between elan and resistance and soon realizes he is only free to repeat the same script: in short, he is a "ticking bomb" on the road of the women he meets. His relationships always end in the same painful way, between unspeakable thoughts and paralyzing fears. This repetition compulsion is one day finally interrupted and within him it generates an absolute void. Kim Rossi Stuart (born 31 October 1969) is an Italian actor and director. Early life and career Rossi Stuart was born in Rome. His father, Giacomo Rossi Stuart, Giacomo, was an actor of Italians, Italian and Scottish people, Scottish descent (his mother was Scottish). Kim's mother, Klara Müller, was a former top model of Germans, German and Netherlands, Dutch descent. He began acting at the age of five. Alessandro Genovesi (born 10 January 1973) is an Italian director, screenwriter, playwright and actor. Life and career Born in Milan, Genovesi started his professional career on stage, first as an actor and later as a playwright and a director. Cristiana Capotondi (born 13 September 1980) is an Italian actress. Early life and career Capotondi was born in Rome to an Italian family of mixed Italian Catholic and Italian Jewish background (her maternal grandfather was Jewish). 73rd Venice International Film Festival
The 73rd annual Venice International Film Festival was held from 31 August to 10 September 2016. English director Sam Mendes was the President of the Jury for the main competition. The opening night film was Damien Chazelle's musical ''La La Land''. The Golden Lion was awarded to Lav Diaz's film ''The Woman Who Left''. A new project named Venice Production Bridge was introduced in this edition of the festival. The new project is intended to attract industry professionals and focus on original projects for films, internet, series, virtual reality, and works in progress, in order to help their development and production. It is also meant to work in conjunction with the Venice Film Market which started in 2012.
