Tomi Pöllänen
Tomi Pöllänen (born 26 May 1978 in Joensuu) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey forward. Career Early career He started his career in 1993, playing for Jokipojat at junior level and was promoted to its Mestis-team in front of the 2000–01-season. The year after he got transferred to KooKoo in the same league, where he became the league's top scorer with 28 goals and made the All-Star team. SM-liiga and Norway In 2002, he joined Ässät in the SM-liiga for two seasons, before moving to Norway playing for Frisk Tigers in the 2004–05 season of GET-ligaen. He then moved back home to play for SM-liiga team KalPa in the 2005–06-season. After that he joined Jokipojat for 28 matches, following a brief spell at Sierre-Anniviers who played in the Swiss Nationalliga B. Forward (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a forward is a player, and a position on the ice, whose primary responsibility is to score and assist goals. Generally, the forwards try to stay in three different lanes of the ice going from goal to goal. It is not mandatory, however, to stay in a lane. Staying in a lane aids in forming the common offensive strategy known as a triangle. One forward obtains the puck and then the forwards pass it between themselves making the goalie move side to side. This strategy opens up the net for scoring opportunities. This strategy allows for a constant flow of the play, attempting to maintain the control of play by one team in the offensive zone. The forwards can pass to the defence players playing at the blue line, thus freeing up the play and allowing either a shot from the point (blue line position where the defence stands) or a pass back to the offence. KalPa Players
Kalevan Pallo (KalPa) is a professional ice hockey team which competes in the Finnish Liiga. They play in Kuopio, Finland at the Olvi Areena. Team history Established in 1929 as ''Sortavalan Palloseura'' in Sortavala, the club relocated to Kuopio in 1945 after its original hometown had been annexed by the Soviet Union. During its Sortavala years, the club was not active in ice hockey, but competed in association football, bandy, and pesäpallo instead. Ice hockey was introduced in 1947, and in 1956 KalPa officially replaced the more traditional Kuopio club KuPS in that sport thus specializing in hockey – minor league football was still continued until 1974 as a farm team of sorts for KuPS. Porin Ässät ry is a sports club based in Pori, Finland. The club's only programs are ice hockey and esports, but it used to have an association football program.
