Tomateros De Culiacán
The Tomateros de Culiacán ( en, Culiacán Tomato Growers) are a professional baseball team in the Mexican Pacific League based in Culiacán, Sinaloa. The ''Tomateros'' have won thirteen league titles and two Caribbean World Series in and . The team was founded in 1965 as part of the Sonora-Sinaloa League. History Professional baseball in Culiacán dates back to 1945, when the first team was created the Tacuarineros. This club played in the now-defunct Liga de la Costa del Pacífico (Pacific Coast League). Tomateros de Culiacán was founded in 1965 and started playing in the Liga de la Costa (Coastal League), this league is also now defunct. The Tomateros won their most recent championship on January, 30th 2021(2020-21 season). They defeated the Naranjeros de Hermosillo in seven games, bringing their total to 13 championships. José Silva (baseball)
José Leonel Silva (born December 19, 1973 in Tijuana, Mexico) is a Mexican former right-handed pitcher. He last played for the Rieleros de Aguascalientes of the Mexican League. He played all or part of six seasons in Major League Baseball with the Toronto Blue Jays in 1996, Pittsburgh Pirates from 1997 until 2001, and the Cincinnati Reds in 2002. Silva was drafted out of Hilltop High School in Chula Vista, California. Casey Coleman (baseball)
Joseph Casey Coleman (born July 3, 1987) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Leones de Yucatán of the Mexican League. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago Cubs and the Kansas City Royals. Early life Coleman was born in Fort Myers, Florida, and graduated from Mariner High School in Cape Coral, Florida. He played college baseball at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) for the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles baseball team. At FGCU, Coleman was teammates with future major league pitchers Richard Bleier and Chris Sale. Career Chicago Cubs Coleman was drafted by the Cubs in the 15th round (461st overall) of the 2008 MLB draft. On August 2, 2010, Coleman was called up to the MLB for the first time. Venados de Mazatlán ( en, Mazatlán Deer) are a professional baseball team in the Mexican Pacific League based in Mazatlan, Sinaloa. Francisco Estrada
Francisco "Paquín" Estrada Soto (February 12, 1948 – December 9, 2019) was a Mexican Major League Baseball player for the New York Mets. Estrada, a catcher, appeared in one game for the Mets in 1971. Estrada was at the time of his death the manager of the Chihuahua Dorados in the Mexican League (Summer), and catcher's coach with Culiacán Tomateros in the Mexican Pacific League (Winter). Raul A. Cano (born December 23, 1945) is a Mexican former professional baseball manager and pitcher. Born in Guaymas, Sonora, he batted and threw right handed. Though he never played in or managed in the Major Leagues, Cano spent a long career in the Mexican League, the highest level of professional baseball in Mexico. Canó played in Minor league baseball from 1967 to 1971, mostly with the Diablos Rojos del México. He later managed the Venados de Mazatlán to the 1997–1998 Mexican Pacific League championship.
