Tomas Pontén
Tomas Pontén (born Carl Axel Thomas Pontén; 29 January 1946 – 15 September 2015) was a Swedish actor and director. Biography Pontén was born in Skövde, Sweden and was the son of colonel Birger Pontén and Ellen, née Nordlöf. He was younger brother to the doctor Jan Pontén and fashion designer Gunilla Pontén. He was also the nephew of engineer Ruben Pontén and cousin of actor Gunvor Pontén. He passed his student examination in 1967 and studied at Statens scenskola in Stockholm from 1969 to 1972. Pontén worked at the Royal Dramatic Theatre ("Dramaten") from 1972. Personal life Pontén never married but was partners from 1983 to 2000 with Suzanne Reuter. They had three sons. Pontén died on 15 September 2015 after a long illness. Skövde
Skövde () is a locality and urban centre in Skövde Municipality and Västra Götaland County, in the Västergötland (Western Gothland region) in central Southern Sweden. Skövde is situated some 150 km northeast of Gothenburg, between Sweden's two largest lakes, Vänern and Vättern. It lies on the eastern slope of a low mountain ridge, Billingen (304 m), which cuts through the plain between the lakes. The Western Main Railway ( Västra Stambanan) was built through Skövde in the 1850s, which gave the town a dramatic industrial and population boost. ''Measure for Measure'' is a play by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written in 1603 or 1604 and first performed in 1604, according to available records. It was published in the ''First Folio'' of 1623. The play's plot features its protagonist, Duke Vincentio of Vienna, stepping out from public life to observe the affairs of the city under the governance of his deputy, Angelo. Angelo's harsh and ascetic public image is compared to his abhorrent personal conduct once in office, in which he exploits his power to procure a sexual favour from Isabella, whom he considers enigmatically beautiful. The tension in the play is eventually resolved through Duke Vincentio's intervention, which is considered an early use of the deus ex machina in English literature. ''Skärgårdsdoktorn'' is a Swedish television series produced by SVT Drama. The series ran from 1997 to 2000 and a total of 18 episodes were produced. In English, the title could be translated as ''The archipelago doctor'', and it came to be one of the most popular Swedish TV series of the 1990s. With an average viewership of approximately 2.5 million it is considered one of the greatest successes of SVT Drama. Created by Lars Bill Lundholm and Gunilla Linn Persson, the first 8 episodes were directed by Martin Asphaug. The series was also broadcast in Norway, Finland and Denmark. Deadline (2001 Film)
''Deadline'' is a 2001 Swedish thriller. It was released in the US as ''The Bomber'' which is a direct translation of its original Swedish title ''Sprängaren'' which is the same as the novel by Liza Marklund from which it was adapted. It stars Helena Bergström, Örjan Ramberg, Ewa Fröling and Pernilla August amongst others. The film was directed by Colin Nutley, who is also married to the lead actress Helena Bergström. Plot Annika Bengtzon, an up-and-coming young reporter for Kvällspressens newspaper, is called to the scene of a possible terrorist attack on the new Olympic Arena, Victoria Stadium in Stockholm, where the northern part of the arena has been blown to pieces. The blast kills Christina Furhage, the Swedish Olympic ambassador, and Bengtzon soon finds out that the bombing may have been a personal attack against Furhage and not a terrorist attack.
