Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU), ( Czech ''Univerzita Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně''), is a Czech public university in the Moravian city of Zlín, comprising six faculties offering courses in technology, economics, humanities, arts and health care. The university was named after the entrepreneur Tomáš Baťa, the founder of the shoe industry in Zlín. With a current student population of more than 9,200, TBU is among the medium-sized Czech universities. History TBU in Zlín came from the 40-year tradition of the Faculty of Technology, which was established in Zlín in 1969. European Credit Transfer And Accumulation System
The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is a standard means for comparing academic credits, i.e., the "volume of learning based on the defined learning outcomes and their associated workload" for higher education across the European Union and other collaborating European countries. For successfully completed studies, ECTS credits are awarded. One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS credits that are normally equivalent to 1500–1800 hours of total workload, irrespective of standard or qualification type.
