Tomahawk, Alberta is a hamlet in Alberta, Canada within Parkland County. It is located on Highway 759, northeast of the Town of Drayton Valley. The hamlet is located in Census Division No. 11 and in the federal riding of Yellowhead. History During the fall of 1902 lumberjacks Ed Martin, Chas. (Charles) Lindell, John Kelly, and John L. Croppley scouted along an old pack trail for land. They returned with reports of good land. In March 1903 the first European settlers arrived, traveling along the same trail. In July of the same year the first woman arrived. The original building for Tomahawk School was constructed in 1909. Edson, Alberta
Edson is a town in west-central Alberta, Canada. It is located in Yellowhead County, west of Edmonton along the Yellowhead Highway and east of the intersection with Highway 47. History The town was founded as Heatherwood, but the name was changed around 1911 in honour of Edson Joseph Chamberlin, vice-president of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway. When Edson was declared the local rail centre, smaller communities such as Rosevear (abandoned), Wolf Creek, Carrot Creek and Niton Junction fell into a decline that continues today. Breton is a village in central Alberta, Canada. It is located roughly southwest of Edmonton. History Originally called Keystone, it was established in 1909 by a group of African-American immigrants as a block settlement. Devon is a town in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region of Alberta, Canada. It is approximately southwest of Edmonton, the provincial capital, along the southern bank of the North Saskatchewan River. History Devon owes its existence to one of the largest oil discoveries in the world. Wabamun Lake
Wabamun Lake (sometimes spelled Wabumun) is one of the most heavily used lakes in Alberta, Canada. It lies west of Edmonton, Alberta. It is long and narrow, covers and is deep at its deepest, with somewhat clear water. Its name derives from the Cree word for mirror, (). Wabamun was reputedly the best whitefish lake in the Edmonton area and is well known for its large northern pike. A large variety of migrating, breeding and moulting wildfowl visit the lake. Beaver and muskrat use the lake while the surrounding upland supports coyotes, porcupine, moose and white-tailed deer. There are also reported sightings of cougars and wolves and bears. Alberta Fish and Wildlife has confirmed that there have been wolf kills of cattle and sheep near Isle Lake (just northwest of Wabamun Lake). Wabamun is a hamlet in central Alberta, Canada within Parkland County. It is approximately west of Edmonton on Highway 16. It held village status prior to 2021. History Wabamun was named for its location on the north shore of Lake Wabamun. The first post office opened in Wabamun in 1903. In the early 1900s, Wabamun was a railway stop for homesteaders. Many brought goods and animals on train cars as far as Wabamun and then transferred to wagons drawn by oxen or horses for the remainder of trips to homesteads in the Lac Ste. Anne area. Seba Beach is a summer village located west of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. The main employer to those within the village and surrounding area is the Sundance Generating Plant, a coal-fired power plant located on the south side of the lake, owned and operated by TransAlta Utilities. A large cabin-going community exists during the summer, although the village is populated year round.
