Tom Thobe
Thomas Neal Thobe (born September 3, 1969) is an American former baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball for the Atlanta Braves. Early life Thobe was born on September 3, 1969, in Covington, Kentucky. His father, Jack Thobe, had played for the Akron Goodyear Wingfoots. Career Thobe was drafted in the 38th round of the 1987 Major League Baseball draft by the Chicago Cubs out of Edison High School in Huntington Beach, California. He was assigned to the Wytheville Cubs of the Appalachian League to begin his professional career in 1988. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk.
