Tom Shannon (broadcaster)
Tom Shannon (August 11, 1938 – May 26, 2021) was an American broadcaster from Buffalo, New York. Shannon graduated from Bishop Timon – St. Jude High School in 1956 and Buffalo State College in 1960. He held several radio positions, beginning his career as a newsman at WXRA and ending as an oldies jockey at WHTT in the same city. Shannon most notably served as a top-40 disk jockey at WKBW in Buffalo and CKLW in Windsor, Ontario during their peaks as internationally popular radio stations. He served two stints at each station. He also worked at WGR and WKBW-TV in Buffalo, KHOW, KLZ, and KWGN-TV in Denver, and WMJC and WXYZ-TV in Detroit, Michigan. KHOW (630 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Denver, Colorado, and serving the Denver metropolitan area. The station is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. KHOW is one of three iHeart-owned stations in Denver with a news/talk radio format. The Rockin' Rebels
The Rebels (also known as The Rockin' Rebels) were a band from Buffalo, New York, known for their instrumental "Wild Weekend". The original members were Jim Kipler (Guitar), Mick Kipler (Saxophone), Tom Gorman (Drums) and Paul Balon (Bass/Guitar). "Wild Weekend" "Wild Weekend" was written by radio entertainer Tom Shannon and Phil Todaro as a theme song for Shannon's WKBW weekend radio show. The lyrics were: "Top tunes, news and weather, so glad we can get together... on the Tom Shannon show... KB radio... KB Radio." It was recorded with vocals and music by the Russ Hallet trio.
