Melvin Thomas Runnels (January 28, 1934 – April 7, 2012) was an American football halfback in the National Football League (NFL) for the Washington Redskins. He played college football at the University of North Texas and was drafted in the fourteenth round of the 1956 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams. The National Football League Draft, also called the NFL Draft or (officially) the Player Selection Meeting, is an annual event which serves as the league's most common source of player recruitment. Each team is given a position in the drafting order in reverse order relative to its record in the previous year, which means that the last place team is positioned first and the Super Bowl champion is last. Granbury is a city in and the county seat of Hood County, Texas, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city's population was 10,958, and it is the principal city of the Granbury micropolitan statistical area. Granbury is named after Confederate General Hiram B. Granbury.
