Tom Pernice Jr.
Thomas Charles Pernice Jr. (born September 5, 1959) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour Champions. He previously played on the PGA Tour, where he won two tournaments. Pernice was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended University of California, Los Angeles, UCLA, where his teammates on the golf team included Jay Delsing, Corey Pavin, Steve Pate and Duffy Waldorf. Pernice was a two-time All-American and Pac-10 ''Player of the Year'' in 1981. He majored in Economics and graduated in 1982. Pernice won two PGA Tour events, his first coming in his 213th event. His best finish in a Men's major golf championships, major is T13 at the 1989 U.S. Open (golf), 1989 U.S. Open. He is an advocate of the Jim Hardy one plane swing. Leber's Congenital Amaurosis
Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA) is a rare inherited eye disease that appears at birth or in the first few months of life. It affects about 1 in 40,000 newborns. LCA was first described by Theodor Leber in the 19th century. It should not be confused with Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy, which is a different disease also described by Theodor Leber. One form of LCA was successfully treated with gene therapy in 2008. The 2009 Champions Tour was the 30th season for the golf tour now known as PGA Tour Champions since it officially began in 1980 as the Senior PGA Tour. The season consisted of 25 official money events with purses totalling $48,875,000, including five majors. Bernhard Langer won the most tournaments, four. Straight Down Fall Classic
The Straight Down Fall Classic is a professional golf team tournament. It is played at San Luis Golf and Country Club near San Luis Obispo, California shortly after the PGA Tour's final tournament of the season. It pairs a professional with an amateur who play as a team over two days. The format is 36 holes pro-am, four-ball stroke play at scratch. The pro on the winning team will win $20,000. Second place will earn $11,000 and third place will receive $10,000. The low club pro will receive $3,000 and the amateur on the winning team will earn $750 in merchandise. The main sponsor, Straight Down, is a golf and athletic clothing company which also sponsors PGA Tour golfers. The event began in 1997. Midwest PGA Championship
The Midwest PGA Championship is a golf tournament that is the championship of the Midwest section of the PGA of America. The section was formed in 1924, encompassing the states of Missouri and Kansas. Records kept by the section track winners back to 1960. It is unclear whether there were championship tournaments held before that time. Sam Reynolds, club pro from Kansas City, Missouri holds the record with most victories, winning five championships in the 1960s. Chris Riley (golfer)
Chris J. Riley (born December 8, 1973) is an American professional golfer and coach. Riley was born in San Diego, California. He attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he became the first four-year All-American in any sport. In 1995 he played for the United States in the Walker Cup. Riley turned professional in 1996 and spent time on the Nationwide Tour. He became a member of the PGA Tour in 1999 and made the top thirty on the money list in 2002 and 2003. His sole PGA Tour victory came at the 2002 Reno-Tahoe Open. He was a member of the losing 2004 United States Ryder Cup team and also played on a winning American team in that year's Tommy Bahama Challenge, which is an international match for pros aged 30 and under. The International (golf)
The International (styled as The INTERNATIONAL) was a professional golf tournament in Colorado on the PGA Tour. It was played for 21 seasons, from 1986 through 2006, at the Castle Pines Golf Club at Castle Pines Village in Castle Rock, south of Denver. It had the distinction of being one of two PGA Tour events not conducted at traditional stroke play, the only other exception is the match-play event, the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship. The International was the only tournament to use the Modified Stableford scoring system, enacted because of the significant elevation of the venue, which averages above sea level. Bob Tway
Robert Raymond Tway IV (born May 4, 1959) is an American professional golfer who has won numerous tournaments including eight PGA Tour victories. He spent 25 weeks in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Ranking in 1986–87. Early life Tway was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was introduced to golf at the age of five by his father and grandfather. He participated in his first tournament at age seven. He won the Redding Country Club Championship as a junior golfer in Redding, Connecticut. Tway attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where he had a distinguished career as a member of the golf team — a three-time, first-team All-American his last three years. Ted Tryba
Ted Tryba (born January 15, 1967) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and the Nationwide Tour. Tryba was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He played at Ohio State University. When he was four years old, he lost the sight in his left eye as the result of a freak accident. "I was standing in my yard on a windy day watching a big branch fall out of a tree. It got on me quick and hit me in the eye." All he could do was learn to adjust to his vision handicap. "I really had no big adjustments to make," he said. "If there is such a thing as a lucky accident, I guess that was it.
