Tom Nevin
Thomas Nevin (1916–1972) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1930s and 1940s. Playing career Nevin was a Newtown five-eighth who played eleven seasons of first grade football with the club between 1935–1945. He won a premiership with Newtown, playing in the winning 1943 Grand Final. Remembered as a brilliant defender, Nevin played 135 first grade games with Newtown, the highlights being in the teams that won the 1937 City Cup, the 1941 State Cup, the 1943 premiership and the 1945 State Cup before retiring. Penshurst, New South Wales
Penshurst () is a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Penshurst is located 17 kilometres south of the Sydney central business district and is part of the St George area. Penshurst features low to medium-density housing. It has a predominantly older population however it is increasingly being populated by a new generation of migrant families who are attracted by its proximity to Hurstville. History Penshurst was named after Penshurst, Kent, England. Originally part of the land grant to Robert Townson (1763–1827), the land was acquired in 1830 by John Connell, who left it to his grandsons J.C. and E.P. Laycock. Connell's Bush was subdivided by the Laycocks and the western part sold to Thomas Sutcliffe Mort. The early work in the area was timber-cutting and small farming. Newtown Jets
The Newtown Jets are an Australian rugby league football club based in Newtown, a suburb of Sydney's inner west. They currently compete in the NSW Cup competition, having left the top grade after the 1983 NSWRFL season. The Jets' home ground is Henson Park, and their team colours are blue (traditionally royal blue) and white. Established in 1908, Newtown were one of the founding members of the New South Wales Rugby Football League. They competed continuously in the NSWRFL premiership until their departure in 1983, the first reduction in the League since 1937. Over this period they won the competition three times.
