Sir Thomas Jones Woodward (born 7 June 1940), known professionally as Tom Jones, is a Welsh singer. His career began with a string of top-ten hits in the mid-1960s. He has toured regularly, with appearances in Las Vegas (1967–2011). Jones's voice has been described by AllMusic as a "full-throated, robust baritone". His performing range has included pop, R&B, show tunes, country, dance, soul and gospel. In 2008, the ''New York Times'' called Jones a musical "shape shifter", who could "slide from soulful rasp to pop croon, with a voice as husky as it was pretty". Jones has sold over 100 million records, with 36 Top 40 hits in the UK and 19 in the US, including "It's Not Unusual", "What's New Pussycat?", the theme song for the 1965 James Bond film '' Thunderball'', "Green, Green Grass of Home", "Delilah", "She's a Lady", "Kiss" and " Sex Bomb". Tom Jones (born 7 October 1964) is an English football coach and former player who played as a midfielder. Career After starting his career with Weymouth he was signed by Aberdeen, and played 28 league games for them in 1987–88. Jones then moved to Swindon Town, playing his first Football League game for them in 1988–89. He went on to make 168 league appearances for Swindon, before moving to Reading. After 79 league matches for Reading he moved to Woking. He then played a season for Forest Green Rovers, before playing four years at Swindon Supermarine and ending his active career at Shrivenham. In 1999 during his time at Swindon Supermarine Jones was persuaded by Swindon Town manager Jimmy Quinn to become youth coach at the club. Jones left the position in 2000 when Quinn was sacked. Tom Jones (born February 17, 1928) is an American lyricist and librettist, best known for ''The Fantasticks'', '' 110 in the Shade'', and ''I Do! I Do!''. He was born in Littlefield, Texas. Career Jones' best-known work is ''The Fantasticks'', which ran off-Broadway from 1960 until 2002, and the hit song from the same, "Try to Remember". Other songs from ''The Fantasticks'' include " Soon It's Gonna Rain", "Much More", and "I Can See It". He also wrote the screenplay for the 1995 feature-film adaptation. Jones acted in a New York City revival of ''The Fantasticks'', which he also directed. Thomas Edward Jones (7 March 1903 – 16 May 1972) was an Anglican bishop in Australia. Jones was educated at Ridley College. He was ordained in 1928 and began his ministry as a curate of Moreland and was then the priest in charge of Boggabilla until 1932. Tom Jones (racing Driver)
Earl Thomas Jones (April 26, 1943 – May 29, 2015) was an American racing driver, born in Dallas, Texas. He entered his own Cooper T82 in one Formula One race, the 1967 Canadian Grand Prix. After a promising practice performance, he suffered electrical problems during qualifying and only set one very slow lap time. The stewards denied him a place on the grid on the grounds that he was "too slow", even though he had been competitive in practice runs. Until quite recently Jones was considered one of Formula One's great obscurities, but it has since emerged that he raced on and off throughout the 1970s in various series before retiring in 1980. He ran a welding and metal fabrication company in Cleveland. Jones died in Eastlake, Ohio on 29 May 2015. His old Cooper T82 still survives and its current owner competes with it in historic racing series. Lt. Thomas Charles Jones (1 April 1901 – 19 July 1935) was a Welsh cricketer. Jones was a left-handed batsman. He was born at Pontypool, Monmouthshire. Jones made his first-class status debut for Glamorgan in 1925 against Somerset. He played one further first-class match during that season against Gloucestershire. His final first-class match for Glamorgan came against Warwickshire in 1928. In his brief first-class career, he scored 36 runs at a batting average of 6.00 and a high score of 21. Outside of cricket, Jones was a lieutenant in the British Army, which limited his appearances in first-class cricket. Jones died at Westminster, London on 19 July 1935. Thomas Jones (June 21, 1874 – June 19, 1923) was an American baseball player. He played professional baseball, principally as a first baseman, from 1902 to 1915, including eight years in Major League Baseball with the Baltimore Orioles (1902), St. Louis Browns (1904–1909), and Detroit Tigers (1909–1910). He compiled a .251 career batting average in 813 major league games. He was one of the best defensive first basemen of his era. He led all American League players, regardless of position, with 487 outs made in 1904 and 1,616 putouts in 1908. Among the league's first basemen, he ranked second in assists for six consecutive years from 1904 to 1909, led in range factor in 1904 (11.46) and 1905 (11.90), and also led with 79 double plays in 1908.
