Tom Hislop
Tom Hislop (born 7 June 1988) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club and Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was drafted by the Essendon Football Club in 2006 at pick 20 in the 2006 AFL draft. He made his debut in Round 14 against and kicked a goal. However, he suffered a stress fracture prior to round 17 and missed the rest of the 2007 season. In 2008, Hislop injured his wrist and missed a few weeks but made his return with the VFL side, Bendigo Bombers in round 6. He returned to the senior team in round 7. Essendon delisted Hislop at the end of the 2008 AFL season. Hislop nominated for the 2008 national draft and was recruited by the Richmond Football Club with pick 58. Hislop was delisted by Richmond in October 2010 after playing fifteen senior games in his two seasons at the club. Essendon District Football League
The Essendon District Football League (EDFL) is a professional Australian rules football league competition based in Essendon, Victoria, consisting of teams based in the north-west suburbs of Melbourne. Founded in 1930, the men's competition consists of three leagues: Premier Division, Division 1 and Division 2, with 10 clubs in the Premier Division and Division 1 nine in Division 2. Promotion and relegation between these divisions occurs, with the lowest-placed clubs in the Premier Division and Division 1 being relegated at the end of each season. Clubs which win the Division 1 and Division 2 premierships are automatically promoted. Each men's team also fields a reserves side and an under-19 side that play a fixture mirroring that of the senior side. Since 2017, the League has also run a competition for women's Australian rules football. Aberfeldie Sports Club is an Australian rules football and cricket club located 9 km north-west of Melbourne in the suburb of Aberfeldie which entered the Essendon District Football League in 1948. History The ASC was formed in 1974 and wholly incorporated in 1981. Originally known as 'The Gorillas', the football team wore a navy blue guernsey with an ACC monogram in reference to the Aberfeldie Community Centre which began in 1944 and evolved into the humble beginnings of the football section. Recently, club historian Gary Wicking has pored over vintage newspapers on microfilm dating back over a hundred years and has determined that there was documented evidence of fore-runners of the current club as early as 1893 for both football and cricket in the district.
