Tom Hardiman
Tom Hardiman (30 November 1882 – 30 July 1967) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He was also known as "Ranji" Hardiman. Career Hardiman played a season in the Victorian Football Association (VFA) with Port Melbourne in 1902, but was at Chilwell when he was recruited by Geelong, in the 1907 VFL season The 1907 VFL season was the eleventh season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured eight clubs, ran from 27 April until 21 September, and comprised .... A forward, Hardiman kicked 14 goals from 13 appearances for Geelong in 1907. He had a better season in 1908 when he was Geelong's leading goalkicker with 25 goals and played in all 18 games. Brighton Football Club
Brighton Football Club was an Australian rules football club which played in the Victorian Football Association (VFA). The club was based in the Melbourne suburb of Brighton, and was nicknamed the Penguins. After suffering financial hardship throughout the 1950s, Brighton moved to Caulfield and became the Caulfield Bears in the early to mid-1960s. History An advertisement in '' The Argus'' on 8 June 1859 announced a meeting to be held on the 9th of that month, at the Devonshire Hotel, to form the Brighton Football Club. There are references to an active Brighton Park club in 1867, and Brighton Football club in 1872, 1878, 1882 and 1883. Those clubs may or may not have been connected. The club is believed to have been formed in 1885 and seven years later became a foundation member of the Metropolitan Junior Football Association. The ''Geelong Advertiser'' is a daily newspaper circulating in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, the Bellarine Peninsula, and surrounding areas. First published on 21 November 1840, the ''Geelong Advertiser'' is the oldest newspaper title in Victoria and the second-oldest in Australia. The newspaper is currently owned by News Corp. Newtown is an inner western suburb of Geelong, Victoria, Australia. At the , Newtown had a population of 10,155. It is a primarily residential area occupying one of the highest points of urban Geelong, has always been a desirable place of residence and it is the location of many of Geelong's oldest and most valuable properties. The 1907 VFL season was the eleventh season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured eight clubs, ran from 27 April until 21 September, and comprised a 17-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Carlton Football Club for the second time and second time consecutively, after it defeated by five points in the 1907 VFL Grand Final. Premiership season In 1907, the VFL competition consisted of eight teams of 18 on-the-field players each, with no "reserves", although any of the 18 players who had left the playing field for any reason could later resume their place on the field at any time during the match.
